Boring Cutter And Mortising Chisel Cutter Patents (Class 144/74)
  • Patent number: 7243692
Abstract: A chisel quickly adjusting and positioning device for a chiseling machine includes a plurality of separating members for adjusting a gap between a sleeve and the bottom of a machine body, and a chisel unit composed of a chisel and a drill fitting lengthwise in the chisel. After the drill is fitted in the chisel and then clamped in a drill chuck, the chisel unit is fitted in the sleeve. Then the separating members can be pivotally moved in or out of the gap between the sleeve and the bottom of the machine body, and then the sleeve is pushed up so that a gap between the chisel blade and the tip of the drill may be formed for quickly adjusting and positioning the chisel unit with the machine body.

  • Patent number: 7137420
Abstract: A mortiser tool comprises a drill bit, a cutting element mounted around the drill bit and a motor means. In use a motor rotates the drill bit independently of the cutting element, and in use a motor moves the drill bit in a first reciprocating action, in which the cutting element is axially movable in relation to the drill bit. The drill bit is provided with a transmission adapted to axially move the cutting element in a second reciprocating action in use, which second reciprocating action is axially non-synchronous with the first reciprocating action.

  • Patent number: 6516842
Abstract: A hollow chisel mortiser with a rotor for adjusting a working angle of the mortiser includes a base having a recess defined in a rear end of the base. The rotor rotatably abuts and is selectively secured on the rear end of the base. The rotor includes a protrusion extending from the rotor and rotatably received in the recess. A worktable is slidably mounted on the base. A tool support is perpendicularly mounted on the rotor. A drill is movably mounted on the support. The working angle of the drill can be easily adjusted by rotating the rotor.

  • Patent number: 6401772
Abstract: An apparatus for cutting dovetail joints comprises one or more trapezoidal mortising chisels mountable on a drill press, each trapezoidal mortising chisel having a trapezoidal cross sectional shape with a particular slope or “pitch” on its non-parallel sides. The trapezoidal mortising chisels are used to cut sockets in the tail board of a dovetail joints, where the sockets have a trapezoidal shape with sloped sides. A given slope can be selected for the sides of the sockets by selecting a trapezoidal mortising chisel having the given slope. A washer is also provided which is mountable about the tilt axis of a tiltable work table of the drill press. The washer has a set of holes located at an angle about the washer on either side of a reference radius, where the angle correspond to the slopes of the non-parallel sides of the trapezoidal mortising chisels.

  • Patent number: 6238149
Abstract: A method for connecting an attachment to a drill press includes: providing an alignment member including a first portion and a second portion, and having a central axis; securing the first portion of the alignment member within the chuck; connecting the attachment to the drill press so that at least a region of the second portion of the alignment member is disposed within the void; and removing the alignment member from the chuck and the void. A mortising apparatus for a drill press is also disclosed, the drill press including a rotatable chuck. The mortising apparatus includes a mortising chisel holder and a mortising chisel holder alignment member.

  • Patent number: 6116831
Abstract: A drilling template for carving into the lateral edge or the jamb of a door, a slot shaped and dimensioned to receive either a lock and its mounting plate or its strikeplate has a series of drill bit bores at regular spaced-apart intervals along a central line, a pair of lateral legs, and mounting holes corresponding to those of the lock or strikeplate. A drill is used to rout the lock blade slot through the drill bit bores. Guides in either side of the bores prevent lateral movement of the bit, but allow slight longitudinal swing to remove material that may remain between holes. The height of the guides may be varied along the length of the template to guide the routing for a slot of more uniform depth. Lateral spacers are provided to align the template against the angled part of the door jamb. A specialized routing drill bit is provided for drilling the strikeplate or lock channel. The bit has central pilot shaft for tracking within the lock blade slot and a removable circular toothed disk.
