Nesting Hinge Leaves Patents (Class 16/DIG29)
  • Patent number: 5890263
Abstract: A split lockable hinge for a baby bed containing a first hinge wing, a second hinge wing and a lock. An outer and inner legs respectively extend downward from the first and second hinge wings. The lock comprises a plurality of receiving holes on the first hinge wing, a plurality of hooking slots on the second hinge wing which can engage the engaging pin which can be inserted through the receiving holes and the hooking slots, and a plurality of elastic members. The first hinge wing is locked to the second hinge wing by the engagement of the engaging pin to the hooking slots of the second hinge wing by the elastic force of the elastic members. The operation of the split lockable hinge is easier and more stable. The structure of it is easily made. It is easier to arrange the cloth of the baby bed and the volume of the collapsed bed is reduced after collapsing because the rod members can rotate about their long axes. With the split lockable hinge, the jumping dismantling action will not occur.

  • Patent number: 5704095
Abstract: A hinge for supporting a heavy door on a support. The hinge has a main block mounted on the support and a pair of parallel plates mounted on the door. An extender link and a rotation control link are each pivotally mounted to the main block and between the parallel plates. When the door is in the fully closed position, the main block supports the upper parallel plate. When the door is in the fully opened position, the extender link is interlocked with the rotation control link and supports the door. A compressible seal is formed between the door and the support by a sealant disposed about the perimeter of the door. The compressible seal is not exposed to shear forces.

  • Patent number: 5375296
Abstract: A non-mortised door hinge is formed of a large and a small hinge leaf pivotally interconnected about a pivot pin, the smaller leaf being of substantially the same size and shape as a central cut-out in the larger leaf for nesting within the cut-out area of the larger leaf to form a hinge of single leaf thickness. At least one of the upper and lower peripheral edges of the smaller leaf taper away from the corresponding upper and lower margins of the cut out area for increasing the clearance therebetween with increasing distance from the pivot pin. The hinge has horizontally slotted screw holes on one leaf and vertically slotted screw holes on the other leaf. The slotted holes are used to attach the hinge to a door and frame using screws, while permitting subsequent alignment of the door in its frame. At least one round (non-slotted) hole is also provided on each leaf to accept a setting screw.

  • Patent number: 4864688
Abstract: A hinge structure includes two sections, each of which incorporates a flange structure attached to a cylindrical pin holding part. The pin is secured in one of the cylindrical parts and the other cylindrical part removably receives the pin. The flange structures for attaching the hinge to a door and to a door jamb include parts of L-shaped cross section extending tangentially from the cylindrical parts with the attaching flanges either forming part of the outboard section or forming part of an additional L-shaped part attached to the outboard edges of the first L-shaped parts. One embodiment includes an additional bend for attachment to a grooved or notched door jamb. Another embodiment includes an elongated rod with eyebolts affixed in grooves near its ends for attachment to a jamb and having flanges located adjacent the eyebolts for attachment to the door. This embodiment leaves the decorated rod exposed along the height of the door.

  • Patent number: 4850082
Abstract: An easel hinge for supporting picture frames and the like comprises two hinge plate members each including a tubular wall. The tubular wall of one hinge plate member is inserted in the tubular wall of another hinge plate member with at least some non-congruent portions whereby the inner tubular wall can be rotated within the outer tubular wall. The outer tubular wall is open and has at its open edge a substantially straight lower end wall portion. When the inner hinge plate member strikes against the substantially straight lower end wall portion of the outer hinge plate member the plates are retained in the end angular position, and further angular displacement of the hinge plate members relative to each other is prevented.

  • Patent number: 4787121
Abstract: An appliance hinge having internal stop mechanisms. The hinge has a first member which provides a thin bearing surface on both sides of a formed cylindrical segment on the back lip of the door. The second hinge member is a molded block which mounts on the floor of the door recess on the appliance cabinet top, and has a cylindrical shaped guide slot for receiving the first member in sliding engagement. The first and second hinge members are snapped together to prevent disengagement during assembly. When the door is rotated about the hinge axis, the bearing surfaces of the cylindrical segment slilde along the guide slot until the door contacts the back lip of the slot and the edge of the cylindrical segment contacts the terminating surface of the guide slot. Cooperatively, these two stop mechanisms distribute the strain of a relatively strong opening force.
