  • Patent number: 8240323
Abstract: A rain shielding device for an automobile includes an umbrella holder, an umbrella cloth, and a power accumulator. The umbrella holder includes a first edge column mounted on a vehicle door, a second edge column mounted on a vehicle body, a plurality of main umbrella sticks between the first edge column and the second edge column, and two interlock members. The umbrella cloth is covered on the umbrella holder. The power accumulator includes a movable member, a plurality of auxiliary umbrella sticks, and an energy-storing member. The interlock members move the movable member when the vehicle door opens, and then the movable member interacts with the auxiliary umbrella sticks to push the main umbrella sticks and umbrella cloth unfolding. The energy-storing member stores energy when the umbrella cloth unfolds and releases energy when the vehicle door is closed; thus provides an auxiliary force when the umbrella cloth folds/unfolds.

  • Patent number: 7588214
Abstract: A support structure (1) is provided comprising a plurality of curved surfaces A, B hingedly interconnected along their edges such as to provide effective deployment in two separate stages. Preferably, the structure has only two curved surfaces hingedly interconnected at a single non-planar hinge line. In FIG. 1(a), the two sheets A, B are coplanar in that they lie in the same horizontal plane, permitting the structure to be in a flat, first stage deployment position. In Figure (b), the structure is fully deployed in a second stage deployment position by bringing sheet A out of plane through some angle in relation to the position of sheet B, resulting in both sheets becoming curved. The structure has utility in various space-based as well as terrestrial reflective and absorbing applications, and bears definite advantage in terms of weight saving, high stiffness and well-defined surface precision.

  • Patent number: 4882795
Abstract: A partition, more particularly for a corner shower, contains two door-elements mounted displaceably in an upper guide-rail. In the vicinity of the entrance, the upper guide-rail is curved like the edge of the tub and is connected to two lateral wall elements which are secured to the room and are flat. The purpose of the invention is to achieve reliable sealing and equally reliable guidance combined with a simple design. It is proposed that the guide-rail be curved over its entire length and comprise curved end-parts behind the flat wall-element. No lower guide-rail is provided. Instead, small narrow guide-elements are located outside the entrance.

  • Patent number: 4443035
Abstract: A window assembly for a vehicle cab having first and second frames and a window horizontally divided into upper and lower sections. The upper section of the window is pivotally mounted to the top rail of the second frame which is totally surrounded by the first frame. The lower window section is hinged to the bottom of the upper window section and has a guide member on its bottom edge which mates with side guide rails formed in the second frame. The window is opened and closed by hydraulic cylinders which positively position and retain the window in a desired position regardless of the vibration or rocking motion experienced by the vehicle as it traverses over uneven terrain. Furthermore, the entire second frame can be opened by pivoting it about the upper edge of the first frame. In so doing, an alternative escape route is provided for leaving the confines of the cab.
