Abstract: An integral weighing device for determining whether the weight of a luggage container and its contents exceed a maximum allowable amount simply by suspending the container by its handle. If the container weighs more than a set amount the integral weighing device provides a visual cue that the container exceeds the predefined weight. The integral weighing device comprises a torsion spring mounted within a housing, and a cord attached to each end of the torsion spring and fed via a guide-way through and out of the housing to an externally accessible grip handle. An indicator arm is rotationally mounted to the housing. When a person lifts the luggage by the grip handle the force is transferred to the torsion spring causing angular deflection toward the indicator arm. If the container exceeds the set weight the indicator arm provides a visual cue that the bag exceeds the predetermined weight.

  • Patent number: 6943304
Abstract: For an electronic fish scale including a molded housing having upper and lower portions for supported hand grasping and a pair of opposed C-shaped jaws which open when a jaw actuator is manually moved upwardly to receive a lower lip of a fish securely held and unhurt between the jaws when closed for weighing the fish, a jaw tip cover for the lower distal end portion of each jaw half. The jaw tips or GRIP SOCKS are over-molded of resistant plastic material to enhance gripability of fish lips and to reduce harm to the fish when released.

  • Patent number: 6765155
Abstract: The present invention 10 discloses a device that allows a fisherman 12 to measure and weight their catch 14 to determine if they are of legal size or a throw back. The device of the present invention consists of a plastic housing 16, including a carrying handle 18. A measuring ruler 20 is stenciled upon the horizontal face of the device and is used to measure the user's catch. On the opposing rear wall is a pictorial display of game fish 22 with information on size, and weight restrictions of different species as dictated by local authority. A weight scale 42 is provided and housed within an end wall 24 having an access panel 40. A hook chain device 36 is also provided and consists of a hook 44 attached to one distal end of the chain 46 and another hook 44 attached to the other distal end of the chain 46 stored within the weight scale compartment 26. One end hook 44 of the chain device 46 is attached to a loop 38 on the weight scale plate 52.

  • Patent number: 6696650
Abstract: An electronic fish scale comprising a molded housing having upper and lower portions for supported hand grasping. An electronically controlled weight-sensing member and a viewable digital output screen are mounted within the housing. The output screen is electronically connected to the weight-sensing member whereby a weight held by gravity causes a digital numeric display on the output screen equal to the fish weight. A fish-engaging assembly extends downwardly from the weight-sensing member through an aperture formed in the bottom of the housing, and includes a pair of opposed c-shaped jaws. A longitudinally moveable jaw actuator is operably connected through a jaw control member via a rotation pin through diagonally extending aligned slots in the jaws whereby the jaws are opened when the jaw actuator is manually moved upwardly. A lower lip of a fish securely held and unhurt between the closed jaws will produce a digital display of the weight of the fish on the output screen.
