Abstract: Disclosed is a UV stabilized polyarylene sulfide composition, methods of forming the composition, and UV stabilized products that can be formed of the composition. The UV stabilized polyarylene sulfide composition can include a reactively functionalized polyarylene sulfide polymer in conjunction with a UV stabilizer. The reactivity of the polyarylene sulfide polymer is formed during melt processing via reaction of a reactively functionalized disulfide compound with a starting polyarylene sulfide. The reactivity of the polyarylene sulfide can encourage interaction between the polyarylene sulfide polymer and the UV stabilizer, which can improve dispersion of the UV stabilizer throughout the composition and improve miscibility between the polyarylene sulfide polymer and the UV stabilizer. Abstract: A method produces a flat semi-finished product from a fiber composite material that contains individual carbon fibers, carbon fiber bundles, or a mixture thereof in a defined anisotropic fiber orientation and a thermoplastic matrix material. The anisotropy of the carbon fibers is created in a carding process using the high orientability of admixed non-carbon textile fibers, at least some of the non-carbon textile fibers being thermoplastic, and the carbon fibers having been isolated from waste or used parts. Abstract: An apparatus and method for manufacturing a multi-layer web product. A long fiber stream is directed around a rotating carding cylinder. Two combing cylinders are disposed adjacent the carding cylinder to comb a first web of long fiber and a second web of long fiber, respectively, from the carding cylinder. A first conveyor receives the first web from the first combing cylinder and transports the first web toward a layering point. Similarly, a second conveyor receives the second web from the second combing cylinder and transports the second web toward the layering point. A short fiber deposition unit is disposed adjacent the second conveyor and deposits short fibers onto the second web. At the layering point, the first conveyor deposits the first web onto the second web, with the short fibers sandwiched therebetween, to form a layered web product.

Abstract: A drafting assembly for drafting a fibre web having upper and lower rear apron loops which have first and second support surfaces respectively being arranged to grip the card web fibres between them and transport the card web fibres from a rear entrance to a rear nip point on displacement of the rear aprons. Upper and lower front apron loops have third and fourth support surfaces, respectively, being arranged to grip the card web fibres between them and transport the card web fibres from a front nip point to an exit on displacement of the front aprons. The front and rear nip points are adjacent and arranged such that the front nip point receives card web fibres which exit the rear nip point. Proximate to the nip point, each loop is wedge shaped with the arms of the loop on each side of the nip point converging towards nip point and having an acute angle therebetween.

Abstract: In a spinning preparation machine, a machine element lies opposite the clothing of a roller, bearing surfaces of end portions of the machine element are in engagement with respective bearing surfaces of stationary bearings, and an adjustment means is arranged in the region of each of the end portions and the bearings, the adjustment means being able to alter the radial spacing between the roller and the machine element. To enable the carding nip to be adapted or kept constant, adjusting elements of the machine element and adjusting elements of the bearings each have inclined bearing surfaces, and the machine element, in the event of undergoing thermally induced expansion in its longitudinal direction, is so displaceable along the inclined surfaces that the radial spacing remains the same.
