Abstract: Aspects of the invention relate to liquid transfer systems including a pipette tip having a body defining an inner volume and having first and second ends, the first end arranged to transfer a volume of liquid into and out of the pipette tip and the second end arranged for attachment to a pipette, and a bladder sealingly attached to the body. In some embodiments, the bladder is disposable in the inner volume. The bladder may be defined by a membranous sac and/or a planar membrane. The bladder may be moveable in response to an applied pressure to transfer liquid. The bladder also may be stretchable to accommodate a volume of fluid. In some embodiments, the pipette tip is used in a cell culture incubator, with a manipulator including a pipette that is in fluid communication with the pipette tip.

Abstract: Provided in part herein are pipette tip rack assemblies having one or more of the following features: (i) having a plurality of pipette tip receptacle plates, each plate having an array of pipette tips, stacked upon one another supported by a rack base; (ii) each plate having one or more projections from the proximal or distal surface and, optionally, orifices that oppose the projections of the next plate in the stack, and (iii) the rack base having a proximal surface with one or more orifices or projections that oppose the projections or orifices of the plate in the stack. Also provided are methods of dispensing pipette tips from pipette tip rack assemblies and manufacturing pipette tip rack assembly components.

Abstract: A system for asservation of at least one hair including a hair root and a hair shaft are disclosed. In some embodiments, the system includes transport and/or storage containers, or cultivation containers. Also disclosed are methods for transporting and/or storing hair, for culturing keratinocytes from hair, and for generating induced pluripotent stem cells from keratinocytes.

Abstract: The present invention provides a probe card holder including a plate-shaped frame formed with an opening approximately the same size as the probe card, a plurality of card bottom surface holding portions that are provided around a peripheral edge of the opening in the frame and that hold a bottom surface of the probe card while biasing the bottom surface, and a plurality of card top surface supporting portions that support the top surface of the probe card. Each card bottom surface holding portion includes an L-shaped member with a base portion and a bottom surface supporting portion, a knob that is linked to a tip end portion of the base portion and a biasing member that is disposed between the knob and the top surface of the frame and that biases the bottom surface supporting member upward toward the bottom surface of the frame.

Abstract: A cover for a drug container piston array includes a plurality of cover sections configured for positioning over the drug container piston array. Each cover section includes an elongated cover section body having an open base end and a closed capped end, and a plurality of base sections or a web positioned between the plurality of cover sections and coupled to each base end. Packaging assemblies including a cover and a piston nest are also disclosed.

Abstract: An aspect of the invention is directed to a packing box in which at least part of an opening through which to insert and take out an object to be packed is closed by inside lids that are opposed to each other in a plane, wherein: the inside lids have a cut portion including a cut that is shaped so as to be suitable for the external shape of a portion of the object and folded portions formed by folding the respective inside lids, and, when the inside lids are closed, the cut is fitted with the portion of the object housed in the packing box to fix the object in a state that walls, opposed to each other, of the respective folded portions are in contact with each other.

Abstract: Described are pipettes capable of dispensing both high volumes of liquid and highly accurate smaller volumes of liquid wherein the accuracy of the volume of liquid delivered increases along the length of the pipette. Embodiments of the pipette include an elongated body with an outer surface, an inner surface defining a lumen within the elongated body, a proximal orifice at a proximal end, a distal orifice at a distal end. The intermediate portion includes a first generally frustoconical-shaped portion defined by a first inner diameter proximate the proximal end of the elongated body and a second inner diameter proximate a second end thereof. In an embodiment, the intermediate portion includes a second generally frustoconical-shaped portion defined by a third inner diameter proximate the transition to the first portion and a fourth inner diameter adjacent the distal end of the elongated body.

Abstract: Apparatuses and methods providing a ballast system for adjusting the center of gravity of a standardized front opening wafer container. Various embodiments of the disclosure present ballast systems that are low profile, do not require modifications to the shell of the wafer container, and can be retrofit to existing wafer carriers. In some embodiments, these capabilities are accomplished by a ballast that mounts to a kinematic coupling plate of the wafer container. In one embodiment, the ballasting can also provide sufficient counter force to the lifting forces associated with purging of the wafer container, thereby preventing “lift off” of the wafer container during purging operations. The ballasts can be removed for shipping of the wafer container, thereby decreasing shipping costs.

Abstract: Packaging used to hold and ship consumer products may include a packaging insert having an exterior profile that substantially matches an interior profile of the box it is placed in during assembly. In some embodiments, the packaging insert may be formed using a thermo-forming process that inhibits the formation of defects, such as stress marks, located near or on the corners of the packaging insert. The packaging insert may include a side wall having a plurality of extended portions and a plurality of abbreviated portions. In some embodiments, the packaging insert may include a plurality of flaps rotatably connected to a body of the packaging insert.

Abstract: A medical device tray for carrying a plurality of medical devices includes: a base made of a substantially rigid material, the base forming at least one base through-hole that has an associated visual indicator; and a covering affixed to the base, the covering being made of a material which is softer than the substantially rigid material of the base and substantially transparent, the covering forming at least one covering through-hole, the at least one base through-hole and the at least one covering through-hole cooperating to form at least one medical device tray through-hole configured for directly supporting a respective one of the plurality of medical devices.

Abstract: A bag constructed of a weed suppression material for packaging a ground cover material. When the bag is in a closed configuration, the bag serves as a container for shipping, handling, and storage of the ground cover material. When the bag is opened and unfolded, and the ground cover material within the bag is spread over the opened and unfolded bag, the bag serves as a layer of weed suppression material on top of underlying soil and beneath the ground cover. In addition, the bag may be used for planting individual plants in a planting bed, for establishing a buffer zone around the foundation of a building, or for controlling erosion around a downspout of a building.

Abstract: An eyeglass frame attachment assembly generally comprising a base and a platform. The base in generally comprised of a right upper frame, a left upper frame and a center support. The right upper frame and the left upper frame each comprise an arm groove wherein the eyeglass frame attachment assembly may be attached to the eyeglasses by passing the temple arm of the eyeglasses through the arm groove. The center support strap can be affixed through a center hole for added support and stability to the platform. The platform comprises a channel, whereby the channel receives an interchangeable banner piece.

The device comprises a plurality of device surfaces suitably shaped and sized to accommodate the shock sensitive product, one of the plurality of device surfaces including a product supporting region at least partially surrounded by product contacting walls, and having a product supporting platform in the lower region thereof; and a three-dimensional structural feature formed into a least one of the plurality of device surfaces; wherein the three-dimensional structural feature serves to control the amount and rate of deflection in the event of impact. In one embodiment, the three-dimensional structural feature comprises a plurality of lines of weakness in a projecting part protruding from at least one device surface being formed of a male mold, wherein in use a top portion of the projecting part rests against the product.

A method is performed for transferring the decorative rigid bodies from the carrier strip onto the substrate.

Associated methods include using the cassettes and orientation devices to hold and orient tissue samples for processing, embedding and microtome sectioning.

Abstract: A packing system for cigars including a cigar box and at least one support. The flat support is sized slightly larger than the distance between a pair of walls of the cigar box so that the support is compressed into an arch shape that is maintained by the walls when inserted into the cigar box. The support includes a plurality of elongate holes that define a plurality of collars. The cigars are seated by the collars and restrict the movement of the cigars. The support also provides a pleasing display for the cigars. In a more particular arrangement, one or more such supports include tabs that engage the cigars of a straight body type and restrict movement of the cigars.

Abstract: A stored value card holder has a front panel comprising a front panel front sheet and a front panel back sheet. A first vertical folding line is disposed on the front panel. A rear panel has a rear panel front sheet and a rear panel back sheet. The rear panel joins to the front panel at the first vertical folding line. A second vertical folding line is disposed on the rear panel, and the front panel joins to the rear panel at the second vertical folding line. A stored value card is retained within either the front panel on the rear panel. The cardholder has a flat position when the front panel and rear panel are parallel to each other in a flat configuration.

Abstract: A caddy for storing diamond polishing pads used by grinding machines holds multiple containers in a rack in a case. Each container is independently removable from the rack and case and stores a complete set of stacked pads so that sets of used pads are always sorted and accessible according to both their grit and wear characteristics. The case, rack and containers are configured with respect to the sets of pads and to each other so as to minimize their relative three dimensional motion during transport of the caddy. The case, rack and body of the containers are preferably made of cardboard so that many sets of pads can be stored and transported in one or more lightweight and inexpensive caddies.
