  • Patent number: 11821828
Abstract: The system and method for determining physical stability of dispersed particles in flowing liquid suspensions is performed by passing a fluid with suspended particulates in a column of filter elements having progressively smaller porosities. The fluid is received by a fluid supply receptacle and then passed through the column of filter elements. The filter elements are arranged so that successive filters are downstream of each other, with successive filters having successively smaller porosities. The porosity of an initial filter element has a sufficiently large porosity to filter a largest particle size intended for detection, and a final filter element has at least a sufficiently small porosity to filter a smallest particle size intended for detection. This results in the successive filters separating successively smaller particles from the fluid. Average particle size and particle count are obtained by removing a mesh filter element and performing SEM analysis on the filtered particles.

  • Patent number: 11583789
Abstract: A filter assembly comprises a filter element, and a mount having at least one port. Each of the filter element and mount has inter-engaging connection formations, where the filter element and mount can be detachably connected to one another. The mount defines a flow path between the port and filter element when the element is connected to the mount and includes a link element which can slide relative to the mount between retracted and deployed positions. The link element has one of a lug and an inclined ramp surface, and the filter element has the other of the lug and ramp surface. The lug and ramp surface form a cam drive where the lug engages the ramp surface as the filter element and mount are assembled, and slide along the surface when the element is rotated to draw the link element out of the mount towards its deployed position.

  • Patent number: 11563222
Abstract: An all mechanically controlled, non-venting pressure control system for liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen cryogenic tanks that requires no electrical control while managing disparate, non-stoichiometric reactant boil-off rates is provided. The pressure control system allows for the passive and repeatable stoichiometric consumption of hydrogen and oxygen boil-off from cryogenic tanks to form liquid water, while preventing the liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen cryogenic tanks from overpressurizing and venting to the external environment. More particularly, in response to an overpressure condition in a first reactant reservoir, a backpressure regulator is opened, providing the overpressure first reactant to a fuel cell or other consumer, and providing a pilot signal to open a supply line from a second reactant reservoir to the consumer. Whether the second reactant is supplied from the second reactant reservoir as gas or a liquid is determined based on the pressure within the second reactant reservoir.

  • Patent number: 11547961
Abstract: A filter element has a first follower element with a first traction surface and a second follower element with a second traction surface provided for interacting with first and second mating surfaces of the filter housing, respectively. The first and second traction surfaces interact with the first and second mating surfaces to pull out the filter element from the filter housing. The first and second traction surfaces are spaced apart from each other along a longitudinal axis of the filter element and project radially into the interior of the filter element. At least one of the first and second follower elements has a stop surface adjoining circumferentially the respective traction surface. In a position of use, the stop surface interacts with a counter stop surface of the filter housing to form an at least unidirectional rotational degree of freedom blocking about the longitudinal axis relative to the filter housing.

  • Patent number: 11471794
Abstract: A filter cartridge for a whole house water filter includes a cylindrical, or tubular, filter media coupled to a mixer tank with improved high flow mixing features. The mixer tank includes a bowl in which a flow diverter, a flow guide with angled fins and a filter media are provided. The flow diverter has a concave portion, i.e., a mushroom-shaped portion, the interior of which is in fluid connection with a central passage through which filtered water flows. In operation, the filtered water flows through the central passage and is deflected by the concave interior of the flow diverter down through the angled fins of the flow guide. The filtered water then passes out through an outlet. The mixer tank stirs the filter media and water mix to increase the kinetics of the mixing process.

  • Patent number: 11434149
Abstract: The devices, systems, and methods of the present disclosure are generally directed to using an increase in gas pressure (e.g., through an increase in heat) to move an actuator that at least partially defines a volume containing a feed fluid in fluid communication with a membrane. As the increase in gas pressure moves the actuator, pressure on the feed fluid in the volume may increase beyond a threshold pressure sufficient to move the feed fluid through the membrane. Movement of the feed fluid through the membrane may reduce a volumetric concentration of one or more components of the feed fluid to form a permeate. For example, the increase in pressure may drive the actuator to increase pressure on salt-water in the volume and, ultimately, move the salt-water through the membrane to form the permeate as part of a reverse osmosis process achieved without the use of a mechanical pump.
