  • Patent number: 8438993
Abstract: A container for storing or delivering a consumable liquid or semi-solid to an animal, such as a human or domesticated pet, includes a receptacle for holding its contents and two or more openings. At least one opening is an elongated opening formed in the side of the walls of the container to allow lapping or licking of the contents by the animal, when the container is laid on its side. The opening in the walls is covered by a corresponding cover, which is affixed using adhesives, mechanical devices, or a combination thereof. The cover prevents spilling of the contents when in place. The container is manufactured so that the opening in the walls can be opened by manually removing the cover, either partially or completely. The cover may be reattached to the container using a fastening technique or device.

  • Publication number: 20090001091
Abstract: A mouth guard is attachable to a beverage container for protecting a mouth of a user when consuming a beverage from the container is provided. The container has an opening defined by a substantially circular edge. The mouth guard includes a cylindrical body having a first portion coupled to a second portion and a fluid passageway extending longitudinally through the first and second portions of the body. The first portion includes a bottom end, a top end, and an outer diameter, and the second portion includes a bottom end, a top end, and an outer diameter that is greater than the outer diameter of the first portion. The top end of the first portion is coupled to the bottom end of the second portion. The outer diameter of the first portion is sized such that at least a portion of the first portion securely fits within the container opening, and the second portion is configured to extend over the circular edge of the container.

  • Patent number: 7337929
Abstract: A device for packaging and dispensing a product, in particular a cosmetic product, which includes a container holding the product. The container is surmounted by a neck, such that a free edge of the neck delineates a first dispensing aperture for the product. A detachable lid is capable of engaging with the neck to selectively close off the first dispensing aperture. In an illustrated example, the free edge of the neck at least partially delineates a second dispensing aperture, with the second dispensing aperture capable of passing from a closed off position to an open position in response to a movement of the lid relative to the neck, so that (i) in a first dispensing mode, the lid is in an intermediate position relative to the neck between a closed-off position of the first aperture and a detached position from the neck, and the product is dispensed via the second aperture, and (ii) in a second dispensing mode, the lid is detached from the neck, and the product is dispensed via the first aperture.

  • Patent number: 7007803
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for storing liquids comprised of a plastic container, which is produced by a blowing process, which has a single layer or multilayer wall, and which is provided with at least one filling and emptying opening. The aim of the invention is, on the one hand, to economically manufacture a device of the aforementioned type by using inexpensive forming tools and, on the other hand, to be able to transport the device from the production site to the storing site also without incurring large expenditures. To this end, the container (1) is formed from at least two separately manufactured and largely identical container parts (2, 3), each of which comprising an approximately rectangular cross section with an underside (4) and a upper side (5) and having a height that is considerably greater than the largest cross section measure.

  • Publication number: 20040149677
Abstract: A plastic container comprised of a closed base, a body portion, and a neck portion with a dispensing opening. The closed base includes a substantially rigid support portion and a flexible portion. The body portion preferably includes a shoulder portion and a substantially rigid wall portion that includes a plurality of reinforcement formations. The container is configured so that the flexible portion of the base contracts upwardly about the support portion in response to vacuum pressures generated within the container, while the substantially rigid support portion of the sidewall remains substantially firm, for example, to accept or receive a label. If desired, the shoulder portion may include a logo and/or one or more pressure relief formations. A method for producing hot-filled, labeled containers is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5924583
Abstract: A laboratory flask is designed for the growth of tissue, cells or microorganisms in a culture medium. The flask includes a bottom wall which accommodates the culture medium. The interior of the flask is accessible from an opening in a side wall through a neck extending outwardly therefrom. The neck of the flask is raised above an upper planar surface of the flask, so as to maximize the height between the neck and the bottom wall, thereby permitting an increase in the usable volume of the flask. The inner wall surface of the neck includes a depending filler wall extending between the inner wall of the neck and the upper planar surface of the flask to fill a gap which would otherwise exist therebetween. The flask permits accommodation of a standard screw-threaded cap to close the neck.

  • Patent number: 5690244
Abstract: A plastic blow molded container (10) of polyethylene terephthalate has a side wall (18) at least three vertically spaced horizontal ribs (38) of an annular shape and at least (12) vertical ribs (40) spaced circumferentially and extending between the horizontal ribs to cooperate therewith to define generally rectangular panels (42) that are capable of flexing inwardly to accommodate for shrinkage upon cooling. The construction of the container allows it to have a lightweight construction according to the equation:W.sub.G <12.sub.G +34V.sub.Gwherein W.sub.G is the weight in grams of the container, 12.sub.G is 12 grams, and 34V.sub.G is a weight in grams that is 34 times the internal volume of the container in liters. The horizontal ribs (38), the vertical ribs (40), and the rectangular panels (42) are constructed and positioned to facilitate label application to the container side wall (18).
