Abstract: A display-type applicator-containing compact for cosmetics and the like, comprises a shallow jar having a wide neck portion with external screw threads, and a ring-shaped screw cap member that is mounted on and cooperable with the neck portion. The neck portion has an annular sealing lip, and a plastic lens member is disposed in the screw cap member to provide an underside sealing area that engages the sealing lip. A swivel-mounted tray adapted to hold cosmetic material is pivotally mounted in the jar in spaced relation to the jar bottom, providing sufficient space under the tray to store a puff or similar applicator. The underside of the tray is a mirror, for use when the tray is swung up out of the jar, and when the applicator is being used.

Abstract: A compact having a re-useable, self-aligning valve, wherein a first one of two elements forming the seal fits over the second one of said elements, the second element being able to move in three different planes of movement in relation to the first element so that when the first element is lowered over the second element, the second element can be moved by the first element so that said elements are properly aligned with one another to form an airtight seal.

Abstract: A cosmetics compact includes a housing for receiving an insert for covering a removable tray contained within the housing. The covering is, preferably, pivotally connected to the housing by way of an articulation. The cover is retained in a closed, preferably, by latches. The latches of the cover are released by a presser element contained, or guided, within the housing which cooperates with the latches of the covering. An insert having a pin is held at its ends by receivers, or depressions, in the housing. The insert is over-reached by a longitudinally-slotted sleeve which is an integral part of the covering. The covering also includes a latching lug which latches into a window of the insert and cooperates with an unlocking surface of a presser element for unlocking, or opening, the cover. The insert holds the tray firmly and also serves to secure the presser element and to lock the cover.

Abstract: A cosmetics compact having mechanism for producing an audible sound to indicate when the compact is completely closed, the compact being opened and closed by slidably rotating the cover and the base in relation to one another.

Abstract: A cosmetic product is provided that includes a cosmetic composition and a container for storing same. The container has a first and second section. Each section is defined by a hemispheroidal chamber having an open mouth with a circumferential edge therearound and a flange projecting outwardly therefrom. The first section contains the cosmetic composition and is sealed by a web completely covering the mouth as well as the flange. On the flange of the second section is a lip with a clamping device for releasably engaging the first section flange thereby releasably joining first and second sections to one another.

Abstract: A cosmetics compact having a shell-shaped housing lower part, a powder tray and/or insert containing the like inside the housing lower part and a lid coupled by way of a hinge, having matching pairs of hook-like detent elements for locking lid and housing lower part, with a first detent element being integrally formed in one piece on the lid, as well as having a presser for releasing the detent elements. The technical problem is reliable guidance of the presser over a long displacement path and high strength of the detent elements, also inexpensive manufacture and ease of operation for the user. The second detent element is seated in one piece on the housing lower part. The presser is connected via a V-shaped carrier to the insert and is rectilinearly guided in an opening in the housing lower part, and projections of the presser may be brought into engagement with the first detent element.

Abstract: A box for cosmetics comprising a base defining a recess, a cover pivotably mounted on the base around a rear transverse pivot, a movable push rod borne by the base at the rear end cooperating with the cover so as to open it, and a pair of parts cooperating and movable with respect to one another for resiliently holding the cover in the closed position. The pair of parts are complementary in shape with one another, the first part comprising a portion of the cover and the second part comprising a portion of the base, so that the push rod functions mainly to open the cover and not to lock it in the closed position.

Abstract: A compact case employs a 360.degree., double-pin hinge which pivotally connects a lid and a base of the compact case in such a manner that the lid can be tucked away behind the base for display and packaging purposes. Before the lid is closed for the first time, the hinge is permanently locked into a position which converts it into a 180.degree., single-pin hinge.

Abstract: A compact case includes a top cover, a bottom support tray, and an intermediate lid positioned between the top cover and support tray, all being hinged together for relative movement with respect to one another, the support tray including a matrix configuration of ribs defining areas to accept the cosmetic inserts while the lid defines openings corresponding to the matrix configuration. The cosmetic inserts contain cosmetic materials and are removably positioned in selected ones of the areas. The openings in the lid register with the cosmetic inserts in the compact case.

Abstract: A molded plastic container having three compartments is described which has utility as a makeup case. The container comprises a central compartment (which can hold an applicator) and a side compartment on each side of the central compartment which is adapted to hold makeup. A living hinge lies between each side compartment and the central compartment to allow for movement of the two side compartments towards and away from one another in the act of closing and opening of the container, respectively. Protective plastic film can overlie at least one of the side compartments.

Abstract: A compact costmetic case which includes: a case body; a lid of the case body pivotally connected to the case body and adapted to be unfastenably fastened to the front portion of the peripheral wall of the case body; and a disengaging mechanism for unfastening the lid from the case body. The front portion of the peripheral wall of the case body has a recess having an end surface on which a first engaging member is formed. The lid has a second engaging member adapted to be engaged with the first engaging member. When the lid is in its closed position, the second engaging member is engaged with the first engaging member so that the lid is fastened to the case body. The disengaging mechanism is received in the recess of the case body. The disengaging mechanism has a sliding plate movable between outer and inner positions toward and away from the end surface of the recess.

Abstract: A pocket container for cosmetic products including a box-shape body defined by a bottom wall, two side walls and a rear wall, first and second covers pivotally connected to the body along opposite parallel pivots, a drawer slidable beneath the bottom wall and generally parallel to axes of the pivots, and the covers being in mating overlapping relationship along edge portions abutting each other along a plane in oblique relationship to the bottom wall whereby one of the covers overlappingly retains the other of the covers in its closed position.

Abstract: A compact includes a cover which is hinged to the base by a hinge which includes a helical coil spring which is tensed by closing of the cover for storing energy that forces the cover open when the cover is released for opening. The closure for the compact includes a subassembly of a button, an apertured locking element and a pair of runners which cooperate with stops in the bottom of the base so that as a locking pin in the cover passes through the aperture in the locking element, the subassembly is effectively depressed and the runners are flexed for storing energy in the runners which thereafter restores the subassembly to its undepressed state with the pin locked in the locking element. The subassembly operates similarly to be self-restoring when the button is depressed for unlocking the pin whereby the bias provided by the coil springs the cover open.

Abstract: A compact case including a case proper and a lid member which are connected to each other through a hinge so that the case is freely opened and closed, wherein concave notches communicating with each other are formed in rear end portions of the case proper and lid member, the hinge is contained in the notches so that the rear end face of the hinge is not projected outward, the upper portion of the hinge is rotatably connected to the lid member through a first shaft, and the lower portion of the hinge is rotatably connected to the case proper through a second shaft.

Abstract: There is disclosed a portable fire alarm apparatus which comprises a foldable housing consisting of a base assembly having a surface for resting upon a horizontal plane. A central section is pivotally mounted to the base assembly to extend in the vertical plane. Pivotally mounted to the top of the central section is a top planar section which is pivotally mounted and adapted to be positioned in the horizontal plane where it is above and parallel to the base assembly and held in position by means of lockable hinges. The top section contains a smoke or heat detector with the central section containing a speaker or an alarm, with the base section containing electrical circuitry and a power source for alarm operation. The central section has an internal surface which is concave to act as a sounding surface for the audio signal indicative of an alarm condition.

Abstract: An improved make-up container construction to allow for more efficient and economical utilization of the most expensive parts of a compact or lipstick case. There are provided a significant quantity of make-up inserts at the point of display. When the desired color is chosen, the inserts may be permanently secured to the lipstick or the case. The compact portion has a recess to engage a extended tapered lug secured to the insert portion. The various portions are made of resilient material to allow a snap-fit to occur. Once the lug is received within the recess, it cannot be removed.Thus, by using the above construction, a much smaller number of other compact members and lipstick members are necessary.
