  • Patent number: 10413254
Abstract: In the present invention, a system and associated method is provided for monitoring vital parameters of a patient. The monitoring system includes sensors disposed on the patient and operably connected to a monitor. The parameters that are sensed by the sensors are transmitted to the monitor and compared with alarm thresholds stored within the monitor. The alarm thresholds stored within the monitor are modified by inputs supplied to the monitor regarding the particular condition(s) of the patient being monitored to provide more accurate alarm determinations for the patient. The dynamic adjustment of the alarm threshold during monitoring can be based on a set of proactive inputs to prevent and/or limit the occurrence of unnecessary or clinically irrelevant alarm conditions or a set of reactive inputs that follow immediately after an alarm event is detected, to enable medical personnel to appropriately respond to sensed alarm condition(s).

The cradle is adapted for attachment to an object in a first orientation on a right-hand side of the object and in a second orientation on a left-hand side of the object. The cradle is arranged to hold the device in an upright position in both orientations.

Abstract: A holder for an MP3 player or other music or communication device is reversibly attached to a rigid helmet such as worn by motorcyclists. The back surface of the holder is configured to fit closely and integrally against the back surface of the helmet. A spoiler forms the top of the holder to minimize wind lift, prevent wind from dislodging the holder, and to direct air flow along the helmet and over the holder. The MP3 player is disposed in a compartment within the body of the holder and retained in the compartment by a stop-tab. An adapter is used to connect the MP3 player to an earphone assembly within the helmet. A volume control on the adapter enables the cyclist to adjust the volume while riding. The holder is reversibly attached to the helmet by means of a two component heavy duty interlock fastener system.

Abstract: An electricity-generating backpack that is substantially lighter in weight, has the multiple springs replaced with one large spring whose spring constant can be adjusted in the field in seconds, and replaces a DC generator with a brushless AC generator that permits approximately 70% generator efficiency and the generation of up to 20 W of electrical power by converting mechanical energy to electrical power. A device is provided that always removes some electricity, but not too much, as necessary to extract large levels of the electricity while controlling damping by providing electrical damping circuits including a DC-DC converter designed to emulate a desired load at its input terminals. Additional electricity generating E-MOD devices may be used for generating additional power by hooking an E-Mod device to a generator and to the backpack belt at the wearer's hip and includes a wand that fits against the wearer's femur so as to move through a range of motion as the patient walks.
