The nozzle includes a nozzle body defining an open end, a closed end, and a side wall connecting the open end to the closed end, where the open end of the nozzle body configured to receive either the high-pressure fluid or the low-pressure fluid. The side wall defines a plurality of low-pressure apertures, a plurality of high-pressure apertures, and a compressible member positioned within the nozzle body. The plurality of high-pressure apertures are positioned downstream from the plurality of pressure apertures. The low-pressure apertures are smaller in size by a predefined ratio when compared to the high-pressure apertures. The compressible member is in an expanded position and blocks the plurality of high-pressure apertures when the open end of the nozzle body receives the low-pressure fluid.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a sprinkling system. The system comprises a body portion comprising a housing and a spike depending downward from the housing, wherein the housing comprises a lower platform and an upwardly open U-shaped groove aligned along a center line of the platform for holding the tubing. The system comprises a saddle adapted to fit within the housing, the saddle comprising a top face having an outlet therein, and a bottom face having downwardly open inverted U-shaped groove depending therefrom. The system also comprises a hollow piercing element extending from the bottom face of the saddle to a point above the platform and in fluid communication with the outlet. The system further comprises a cap adapted to fit over the saddle, wherein securing the cap to the body portion is achieved without rotating the piercing element.

    Abstract: A fire-extinguishing device (10) that is disclosed in three embodiments. All three embodiments utilize a water-spraying unit (12), a water hose (20) and a water-delivering tube (28). When the device (10) is attached to a pressurized water source (150) a water spray can be directed into a burning area. The first embodiment of the device (10) utilize a triangular water-delivering tube (28) that when attached to an elongated water supply tube (64) functions as a battering ram for penetrating a building structure. The second embodiment consists of an elongated water-delivering tube (28) having a lower section (36) that has attached a support structure (94) that is angled to substantially fit over a gabled roof. The third embodiment is also comprised of an elongated water-delivering tube (28) that is attached to a side of a fire truck (160). When the truck (160) is parked alongside a burning structure a water spray is produced that is directed into a burning area.

    Abstract: The invention is a piece of firefighting equipment called a piercing nozzle. The piercing nozzle comprises a hollow tube connected to a hose and adapted for conveying water or other fire suppressant fluid near a pointed head adapted to penetrate a barrier and to release the water or fire suppressant fluid in an adjoining room. The pointed head contains a plurality of holes angled in various directions so as to spray the fire suppressant fluid over a wide area in the adjoining room so as to protect firefighters from flames or superheated air when they enter the adjoining room. The pointed head may be shaped like a cone attached to which is a plurality of sharp blades designed to facilitate penetration of the barrier. Attached to the hollow tube is a sliding weight with handles used for pounding the pointed head through the barrier.

In the process, a moving fibrous web is conditioned after the drier unit of a papermaking machine by applying a flow of moistened gas through one or more arrays of radial jet reattachment nozzles placed in close proximity to the web surface prior to a calendering unit or prior to a steaming unit placed between the nozzles and the calender unit to cool the web and/or increase its moisture content. Webs treated according to the invention exhibit improved properties including less moisture streaking, enhanced smoothness and avoidance of optical property loss.

    Abstract: An irrigation apparatus comprises an in-line dripper insert having a support for attaching a micro tube to the dripper outlet. A fluid conduit in which the insert is placed has an aperture in line with the support. The support preferably comprises a projection for securing a micro tube thereto, a sleeve for securing a micro tube or a connector thereto, or a shoulder for supporting the attachment of a connector to the fluid conduit at the aperture. The dripper insert is secured to the inner surface of the fluid conduit and is contained entirely therein. After detachment of the micro tubes, the main fluid line may be easily reeled or otherwise handled. The internal dripper provides structural internal support to the main fluid conduit when external pressure is applied to the line, such as when a micro tube or a connector is forced against the fluid line to be connected thereto.

A valve is securely mounted in the tubular member and positioned between the intermediate wall and the second end of the tubular member. An actuating member actuates the valve such that gas from the canister may flow outward of the second end of the tubular member.
