  • Patent number: 5950556
Abstract: The snugger bugger slack adjuster is a handle comprising of two mating shell halves containing three parts. A plunger-button, a prong and a spring. The manually operable prong has two upward tines set at 45 degree angles. These tines are set in opposite directions so that when a line is in place, the tines will embed themselves deeply into the lines. When the plunger button is depressed, the prong will disappear into a chamber in the handle allowing the line to move freely. The release clamp is seated within in the handle halves such that the button extends upward through an aperture provided in the handle. When so seated, the spring bears against the underside of the prong, driving it upward which brings the line-engaging tines into contact with a portion of the line that passes through the handle. When so seated the line-engaging tines bear against the lines within the handle and they are unable to be advanced when the plunger-button and prong is in an unbiased position.

  • Patent number: 5671505
Abstract: A preloadable cord lock for gripping a cord such as an elastic shock cord, includes a pair of telescoping members having apertures defined therethrough. The telescoping members are biased so that their respective apertures are not aligned. The lock can be preloaded to a condition where the apertures are aligned for feeding a cord through the apertures. The preloading mechanism may then be disengaged which will cause the telescoping members to be urged to a position where their apertures are not aligned by the bias of the device, thereby pinching and locking the cord in place. Because of unique positioning of shoulders on the inner telescoping member with respect to the arms of the inner telescoping member, the cord lock is easy to preload and actuate, thereby avoiding finger muscle fatigue.

  • Patent number: 5337458
Abstract: A cord stopper releasably fastens a cord thereto. The cord stopper has a front body and a housing attached to a rear side of the front body. The housing has a through hole and a seat formed around the through hole. An annular spring rests on the seat. The annular spring is slightly less in diameter than the through hole so that the inner peripheral part of the annular spring appears beyond the periphery of the through hole. The cord is joined to the annular spring so that the cord is retained against the front body.

  • Patent number: 5323514
Abstract: A cord stopper is used for releasably fastening a cord thereto. The cord stopper has a housing having a longitudinal cavity extending longitudinally therein and a pair of through apertures formed transversely through the peripheral wall at opposed positions. An insert member is fitted in the cavity so as to be reciprocally movable along the cavity and having a through hole transversely therethrough. A biasing member is provided for normally urging the insert member outward of the cavity so that when the insert member is thrust into the cavity against the bias of the biasing member, the through hole comes substantially into alignment with the through apertures for insertion of the cord therethrough. The cord stopper further includes means for temporally locking the insert member to the housing with the through hole of the insert member substantially aligned with the through apertures of the housing for facilitating a cord-threading operation.

  • Patent number: 5315741
Abstract: A snap fastener for securing shoe laces comprises two openings disposed diametrically to each other through which the shoe laces are passed. The openings extend longitudinally through the snap fastener when the latter is opened. An inner sleeve is in a larger outer sleeve such that it is longitudinally movable relative thereto. The inner sleeve accommodates an inner ring. When the pressure is exerted on the outer sleeve, the ring is made to rotate as the longitudinal movement is converted into a horizontal circular movement so that the shoe laces are immovably clamped by the snap fastener.

Abstract: A cord closure for securely retaining flexible cord, drawstrings, and the like in a selected position includes a plunger member, a compression spring, a retaining ring, and a body housing. There is provided means for initially holding the plunger sub-assembly in a pre-assembled position with the spring being compressed so that the holes of the plunger member and body housing can be readily aligned for insertion of a cord. Once the cord is threaded through the aligned holes, the plunger member is depressed downwardly and released to allow the spring to expand and urge the plunger member to move up axially, thereby locking the cord between the plunger member and the body housing.
