Winding Spaced-apart Convolutions Patents (Class 242/536)
  • Patent number: 10604375
Abstract: A guide film supply mechanism feeds a guide film toward a winding mechanism. The guide film is a film in which a pair of supports, which is long in the longitudinal direction of a base film and is thicker than a product film, is disposed on both side portions of the upper surface of the base film that is formed to have a width larger than the width of the product film. A product film supply mechanism feeds the product film toward the upper surface of the guide film. The winding mechanism forms a film roll by winding the product film for each guide film. The tension of the product film is set to be smaller than the tension of the guide film.

Abstract: A glass roll includes at least one glass film and one intermediate material one on top of the other in at least two layers onto a winding core. The glass film layers are held in place by the intermediate material layers. The glass roll is produced with a method including provision of a glass film, a winding core and a compressible intermediate material. At least one inside layer of the intermediate material is wound onto the winding core. The glass film and the intermediate material are wound onto the winding core in such a manner that the glass film is wound onto the winding core in alternating layers with the intermediate material. The intermediate material and/or the glass film is wound at a tensile stress acting in a longitudinal direction which causes a compression of the intermediate material and holds the glass film end in place on the glass roll.

  • Publication number: 20080277523
Abstract: A method and system of winding polymeric film includes providing a length of polymeric film (e.g., low modulus, optical grade film) along with at least one small diameter strand. The film and the strand are simultaneously wound about a cylinder to form a wound roll, with strand being interposed between successively wound layers of film. The strand establishes a gap between the outermost and immediately underlying wound layers of film. The gap facilitates natural movement (e.g., relaxation) of the outermost wound layer relative to the immediately underlying wound layer, thereby compensating for any winding-related stress or tension. The strand can be laterally moved (e.g., oscillated) relative to a width of the film with continuous winding.

  • Patent number: 7269890
Abstract: In a slotless permanent magnet rotary electric machinery, comprising a substantially cylindrical rotor (53) incorporated with a permanent magnet (52), a stator iron core (54) surrounding the rotor; and a coil (55) provided between the rotor (53) and stator core (54) in a spaced relationship with respect to the rotor (53), the coil (55) comprises a plurality of turns which are shifted from one turn to another along the circumferential direction in a mutually overlapping manner; and the coil turns are formed by a conductor (60, 60a, 60b) having an elongated cross section, a long axis of the cross section extending in a radial direction. This provides rotary electric machinery which can significantly reduce loss in a high speed range without substantially increasing copper loss.

  • Publication number: 20040155139
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for fabricating a laminate product having a pair of sheet materials spaced by a plurality of flexible parallel vanes which are secured to the sheet material so that planar movement of the sheet materials in opposite directions cause the vanes to shift between open and closed positions. The vane material is formed from a web of material by dyeing the material, drying the dyed material, applying spaced longitudinally extending lines of adhesive on opposite faces of the material, and cutting the material into a plurality of side-by-side strips with each strip having a bead of adhesive on each face and along opposite side edges. The cut material with adhesive applied thereto is taken up on a transfer roll and moved to a vane/strip handling station where the strips of material are processed and delivered to a laminating station in parallel overlapping relationship with each other.

  • Patent number: 6755370
Abstract: A belt for supporting strips of deformable material includes a flexible central band. One or more strips are placed onto the band. Variable-configuration air chambers are arranged along edges of the band. The air chambers, when inflated, may have upper and lower surfaces that are substantially flat and substantially parallel to the band. An apparatus for using the belt includes a storage coil, a take-up winding, and first, second, and third devices. A first part of the belt is wound onto a reel of the storage coil with a first tension. A second part of the belt is wound onto a beam of the take-up winding with a second tension greater than the first tension. The first devices vary the first and second tension, the second devices keep the air chambers in the first part of the belt inflated, and the third devices rotate the reel and beam.

  • Patent number: 6431490
Abstract: A process and apparatus for depositing simultaneously by winding on a support, several rovings of pre-impregnated fibers. The rovings are deposited simultaneously by winding on a rotating support. At least two rovings are brought into superposition near where they will be applied to the support, and the various rovings are subjected to different tensions depending on their position relative to the support. Specifically, the roving nearest the support is subjected to a greater tension than a roving farther from the support. Composite structures are thus produced.

  • Patent number: 6330984
Abstract: The present invention is directed towards an improved method for delivering a continuous strip material to a spool upon which it is to be wound. The method includes the step of reducing the effective width of the continuous strip material prior to its being wound on the spool by shaping the strip material into an arcuate cross-section. The shaping means is rotatable about an axis parallel with the axis of the spool. The method includes moving the shaping means axis of rotation while winding the strip material on the spool and maintaining the shaping means axis of rotation parallel with the spool.
