Abstract: The invention provides a gate valve (1) for control of petroleum production or water injection, distinctive in that at least one surface subject to sliding in operation of the valve comprises a top layer coating of diamond like carbon (DLC). The DLC contains hydrogen, preferably more than 16 atom-% and more preferred more than 17 atom-%. It is further directed to a method of commissioning or operating a gate valve according to the invention, and use of a diamond like carbon (DLC) top layer coating on at least one surface subject to sliding in operation of the gate valve. Valve parts have a tendency of sticking, adhering or cold welding together, which result in high friction. The aim of the invention is to reduce or eliminate friction problems occurring with time or operation cycles, when using a full scale gate valve.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a fluid-leading component includes positioning a base element machined by a material-removing method with a planar upper face in a mounting support. The method at least includes the initial application of a layer section with predetermined dimensions of a particulate material in a predetermined region on the planar upper face of the base element; the heating of the layer section by a heat source in such a manner that the particles of the material within predetermined dimensions bond; and the application thereto and heating of at least one further layer section with predetermined dimensions of a particulate material in a predetermined region. In this way it is possible, in the generative manufacturing method, to obviate the need to provide support structures that subsequently have to be removed, and the base element is a functional part of the component to be manufactured.

Abstract: A low water cut-off switch assembly features a two-part base assembly having a lower base part and an upper base part. The lower base part is made from a metallic material, configured to be adapted on piping having a fluid flow, and also configured with a central orifice to receive a paddle arm that pivots on an axis in response to the fluid flow in the piping. The upper base part is made from a non-metallic material, configured with a corresponding central orifice to receive the paddle arm, and configured with a channel to receive a pivot arm to mount and allow the paddle arm to pivot on the axis in order to actuate an ON/OFF switch in response to the fluid flow. The non-metallic material of the upper base part has a substantially lower coefficient of heat transfer than the metallic material of the lower base part, so as to substantially reduce condensation build-up in the low water cut-off switch, e.g.

Abstract: Tunable check valves reduce valve-generated vibration to increase the reliability of tunable fluid ends. Selected improved designs described herein reflect disparate applications of identical technical principles (relating to, e.g., the vibration spectrum of an impulse). Tunable check valve embodiments comprise a family including, but not limited to, tunable check valve assemblies, tunable valve seats, and tunable radial arrays. Each such tunable embodiment, in turn, contributes to blocking excitation of fluid end resonances, thus reducing the likelihood of fluid end failures associated with fatigue cracking and/or corrosion fatigue. By down-shifting the frequency domain of each valve-closing impulse shock, initial excitation of fluid end resonances is minimized.
