    Abstract: Jack-type tools for moving elements such as flooring elements by pulling and, alternatively, by pushing are shown and described. In an embodiment, the jack includes a base, a puller pivotably attached to the base, a ram extendable from the base, and a ram-drive mechanism in power-transmission relationship with the ram which is operative to extend the ram. The pivotably attached puller contacts a flooring element side portion during a pulling mode of operation and pivots out of the way so that the jack can push a flooring element during a pushing mode of operation. The ram extends from the base against a fixed surface such as a wall or cabinet to apply a force which pulls the flooring element with the puller to move the puller and flooring element away from the fixed surface and, alternatively, a force which pushes the flooring element by extension of the ram with the tool secured with respect to a subfloor or other support.

    Abstract: A flooring installation tool for closing gaps between wooden floorboards by straightening bowed floorboards or bending straight floorboards installed on a sub floor. The main components are: a base, a threaded rod, a main nut, a pushing foot, a push plate; and a pull plate. The tool base is affixed to or abuts a building structure with the pushing foot abutting a bowed floorboard to be installed. The main nut is turned; linear force is exerted closing gaps between the floorboard being installed and a previously installed floorboard. The push plate when placed between the pushing foot and floorboard allows fastening of floorboard in-line with the exerted linear force. To install the last floorboard the pull plate is placed under the base hooking on the edge of the floorboard exerting linear force between the wall and last floorboard closing gaps between floorboards. The pushing foot swivels to self align.

    Abstract: A pushing tool adapted to grip a joist and exert pushing force on a board located immediately above the joist. The tool comprises a block having a threaded bore, a screw which threads into the bore, and a clamp fixed to the block. Four arms forming dual parallelogram linkages are pivotally mounted to the block and to the jaws of the clamp such that when the block is drawn along the screw by screw action, the arms fold in the direction of parallel orientation relative to the screw. This draws the jaws of the clamp towards one another such that they engage and grip the joist. The jaws of the clamp have cleats preventing the jaws from slipping ineffectually along the joist. Continued rotation of the screw advances the screw against the board located above the joist. Pitch of the threading of the bore and the screw enable great pressure to be exerted on the board when the screw is turned by a wrench.

    Abstract: A woodworking press for effecting a mating of jointed boards. The instant invention is an elongated pressing/jacking device which includes, at one end, an anchor piece, at the other end a reversible head for contact of a workpiece and a central turnbuckle structure connecting the anchor and the head. The anchor is adapted for nailing to a substrate and has a feature to enhance prying the anchor from the substrate. The turnbuckle device is conventional, but is enhanced by use of a transfixed, shuttling handle. The head is unique in that it is designed having multiple edges which may be brought into mating contact with wood joint structures of varying morphology. Through use of a simple, yet elegant, connection mechanism, the head may be alternately positioned so as to present different mating configurations to the workpiece.

    Abstract: A concrete supporting bridge overhang bracket system which can be lifted and transferred in gang fashion from a first section of a bridge after it has been formed to a subsequent section. The system includes a series of longitudinally spaced apart laterally extending overhang brackets to which concrete forms are secured. A lift bracket assembly is attachable to a pair of overhang brackets and can be clamped to the deck to support the overhang brackets and the forms from the deck so that the brackets can be disconnected from the deck. Once disassembled, the lift bracket assembly can be supported by a crane and unclamped from the deck, the crane thereafter moving the lift bracket assembly, the overhang brackets and the forms to the subsequent section. Also disclosed is a pivotably adjustable edge form which permits the outer edge of the deck to be vertically inclined irrespective of the horizontal inclination of the deck.

The jack includes first and second pipes of suitable length each threaded at at least one end thereof. A mounting bracket having a threaded bore extending from one face thereof to and through an opposite face interconnects the first and second pipes. A second jaw member is slidable along the second pipe and movable by rotating a threaded rod that extends through an additional threaded bore in the bracket. A handle is swingably connected to one end of the threaded rod for use in rotating the same.
