  • Patent number: 8246011
Abstract: A slidable adjustable jacking device where the numbers of rotations of a hand crank on a jacking device may be greatly reduced by using a slidable screwjack inner member to re-position a load-carrying member. New in the art is the use of a slidable screwjack inner member and an affixed bar within a tubular outer member and an affixed passageway. This invention re-positions a slidable screwjack inner member to a location and then pins the member such that the member is fixed relative to a trailer. The device is useful for raising or lowering the tongue of a trailer.

Abstract: A controller commands a jack drive to extend and retract a jack leg relative to a jack base along a stroke having retraction and extension limits. The controller updates a perceived present leg position value in response to position change signals from a position change sensor. The controller occasionally applies compensation factors to the perceived present leg position value in the extension direction. The controller resets the perceived present leg position value whenever the jack leg reaches the retraction limit.

Abstract: A support jack for supporting semitrailers including a vertically telescopically displaceable supporting device having an outer sleeve and an inner sleeve. A spindle nut has projections and contact elements for being positively detachably connected to the sleeves. The projections interact with openings of the inner sleeve for fixing the spindle nut in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the support jack. The contact elements interact with an inner side of the outer sleeve for fixing the spindle nut in the direction of rotation about the longitudinal axis. A method of assembling a support jack is also described, in which the spindle nut is connected detachably to the inner sleeve by at least one translatory and one rotary joining movement or at least two translatory joining movements.

  • Patent number: 8028973
Abstract: An electric actuator motor drives an actuator leg between inner and outer limits of an actuator stroke relative to an actuator base. A controller detects when the actuator leg is at one of the inner and outer stroke limits by monitoring and comparing actuator motor power draw to known actuator motor power draw values associated with the operation of an electric actuator when its leg has reached an actuator leg stroke limit. A position sensor senses changes in the position of a monitored actuator component and provides corresponding signals to the controller. The controller calculates the position of the monitored actuator component relative to the position that the monitored actuator component was in when the actuator leg was in a predetermined home position. The controller recognizes and records the concurrent position of the monitored actuator component as indicating that the actuator leg is in the home position whenever the leg reaches a stroke limit.

Abstract: A wheeled center stand for motorcycles. The center stand incorporates a spine rotatably attached to a frame, and at least one leg rigidly attached to the spine. The frame is attached to a motorcycle frame cross-member. At least one wheel is rotatably mounted to an extreme of a leg opposite the spine. The center stand may be extended and retracted conventionally, using a foot lever mounted to one of the legs. The wheels may be swiveling wheels or non-swiveling wheels. In the preferred embodiment, each non-swiveling wheel was mounted at a 20 degree offset relative to a stand centerline. When extended, a motorcycle to which the wheeled center stand is mounted may be rotated relative to a surface upon which it rests, such as a garage floor, with a minimum of effort. Nut plates are also taught which facilitate the mounting of the stand to a motorcycle frame cross-member.

  • Patent number: RE43535
Abstract: The swivel jack assembly is used with trailers to vertically position a trailer tongue for mounting onto a hitch of the towing vehicle. The swivel jack assembly includes a jack-mounting bracket welded to an outer housing of the jack, and a tongue-mounting bracket mounted onto the tongue portion of a trailer. The jack also includes a novel swivel mechanism for pivoting the mechanism in either an upright support position or a horizontal stowed position. A cup-shaped section of the jack-mounting bracket nests within a cup-shaped section of the tongue-mounting bracket. When in the upright position, the jack extends vertically and may be used to raise or lower the tongue and support the trailer. The swivel jack assembly keeps the trailer in a level position when the trailer is disengaged from the towing vehicle. The swivel jack assembly is pivotally mounted onto the trailer tongue such that they can be pivotally repositioned to a stowed position when not in use.
