  • Patent number: 11931969
Abstract: This document describes systems and method of embedded printing for additive manufacturing. A print material is printed into a support material. The print material and the support material each have a fluid phase and a solid phase. The print material transitions from the fluid phase to the solid phase based on a fluid-fluid interaction with the support material. One or more parameters of the support material can be adjusted to cause a diffusion rate of the print material into the support material during the fluid-fluid interaction to be less than a threshold value. Multiple print materials can be printed into the support material simultaneously.

The surface is substantially free of features that form a reentrant geometry and includes a plurality of gas-trapping features extending from the surface to a depth below the surface and a coating comprising at least one of a fluoropolymer and a fluorosilane. The gas-trapping features are substantially isolated from each other, and trap gas below droplets to prevent wetting of the surface.

  • Patent number: 8793872
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for manufacturing a closed impeller that has a simple configuration and enables fusion in a very accurate position. The method includes: forming a frustum-shaped front plate and a disk-shaped base plate formed therebelow, upper surfaces of a plurality of unit impeller blade plates made from a synthetic resin extending in radial directions which are formed as impeller blade tip surfaces, with sharp-pointed ridge-like protrusions having an acute upper end and a width less than a width of the impeller blade tip surface being integrally formed on the impeller blade tip surfaces. In the method, an inner surface of the front plate and the plurality of impeller blade tip surfaces are formed as parts of conical surfaces and formed so that the cone apex angles of the two conical surfaces are equal to each other.

Abstract: A stripper roller for use in a stripper unit subassembly is disclosed to simplify changing and replacement of parts. Brushes and batts are mounted in interlocking core segments that rotate in rigid accompaniment with a center shaft. The core segments are secured together and secured to the center shaft using retainer caps, and the retainer caps in turn are secured to the shaft to prevent lateral sliding of the stripper roller. Individual batts and brushes may be inserted into or removed from a reusable core segment, or the individual batts and brushes may be integrally affixed to replaceable core segments.

  • Patent number: 8790566
Abstract: A manufacturing method of composite material member includes a step of shaping a laminate including laminated prepreg sheets along a mold. The laminate includes a first layer in which fibers are oriented in single direction. In the first layer, a first surface crossing the single direction and a second surface crossing the single direction are confronted each other such that the first surface and the second surface face each other. Since the fibers are discontinuous between the first surface and the second surface, the laminate is easily shaped and wrinkles are hard to be generated in a composite material member to be manufactured from the laminate.

Abstract: A knitted spacer fabric has a tightly knitted bottom layer, a more loosely knitted upper layer and linking fibres extending across the space between the lower and upper faces. Settable material, e.g. cement, is introduced into the space between the upper and lower faces and can be caused to set by the addition of a liquid, e.g. water. Until set, the fabric is flexible and can be shaped but after the material in space has set, the fabric is rigid and can be used as a structural element in a wide range of situations. The bottom layer has an extension that extends beyond the upper face and is connected to the upper face by elastic connecting fibres that draw the extension towards the other face, thereby at least partly closing the space at the edge of the cloth and preventing the settable material from spilling out.

Abstract: An attachment mechanism, method of manufacture and method of use are described for releasably attaching a first component and a second component of an orthopaedic apparatus. The attachment mechanism comprises a boss extending from a surface of the first component, and having a free end and a side wall. A retaining mechanism is provided in the second component. The retaining mechanism comprises a plurality of walls defining an aperture in the second component to receive the boss therein. At least part of one of the plurality of walls is a resiliency flexible member engineered to apply sufficient force to a part of the side wall of the boss when inserted in the aperture to provide an interference fit between the boss and the plurality of walls of the aperture to releasably retain the boss within the aperture.

Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide: a thermoplastic elastomer composition, which is accompanied by less environmental burden, and which has flexibility, rubber elasticity, formability and recyclability; and a molded product obtained using the same. The present invention is directed to a thermoplastic elastomer composition comprising a thermoplastic resin (A) derived from a non-petroleum source, and at least one rubber (B) selected from a natural rubber, a diene polymer rubber, an olefin polymer rubber, an acrylic rubber and a silicone rubber, the thermoplastic elastomer composition being obtained by allowing the rubber (B) to be dynamically crosslinked with a crosslinking agent (C) in the presence of the thermoplastic resin (A). Preferred (A) is a polylactic acid, or a poly(3-hydroxybutyrate), and preferred (B) is a natural rubber.
