The insert tube is provided in the vicinity of each end with at least one groove that runs around its circumference. In the groove there is arranged at least one sealing ring of an elastic material. The sealing ring mounted in the groove has an external diameter that exceeds the internal diameter of the preheating tube for air. The sealing ring forms a seal against the inner surface of the pre-heating tube for air and prevents leakage through the sealing ring.

Threaded tubular ends include a slot cut across a thread at a location along the circumference of the thread. Threading two tubular members that have the slot disposed in either or both of a pin or box end of the tubular members establishes the connection. The slots represent no impediment to the make-up or break-out of a box by pin connection prior to expansion. During expansion of the connection, the threads of either the box or pin end are forced via plastic flow into the slot in the corresponding thread. This results in locking the connection and preventing relative rotation between the two tubular members, which could otherwise loosen the connection.

Additionally, an outside diameter of the body can accommodate grooves for retaining seals. These seals can create a sealed engagement to a housing or another fitting, to form a complete conduit connection. The body can take the form of a housing, a male fitting, or a female fitting.

The flared end is attached to the inlet of the suction accumulator and the flared end matches the contour of the inlet such that when the two parts are joined they are congruent with each other to thereby reduce the vibration therebetween. The suction accumulator is also provided with an outlet which communicates refrigerant from the suction accumulator back to the compressor. The suction accumulator is secured to the outside wall of the compressor using a mounting bracket.

A brazing material may be fixed between the flange and the tank wall during brazing even during vibration. The length of the pipe inserted into the tank may be minimized. The contact area between the fluid pipe and the tank is thereby enlarged.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to filler tubes and, more particularly, to fuel filler tubes and methods of attaching them to automobile fuel tanks. The fuel filler tube of the present invention includes an inlet tube, a retainer member, sealing means and a fuel tank having a downwardly extending diameter portion. The retainer is disposed over the downwardly extending diameter portion and adhered to the tank. The inlet tube is then inserted into the fuel tank aperture until the inlet tubes annular flange engages the fuel tank's annular lip. A crimping tool is then inserted through the axial bore of the inlet tube and a plurality of bearings contained on the crimping tool are forced radially outwardly to thereby crimp the inlet tube and downwardly extending diameter portion together. The retainer member includes a plurality of recessed areas for hosting the expanded inlet tube and tank portions.

A pilot tool is registered against the closed end of the tube; and, an annular tool is received over the mandrel and registers against the open end of the tube. With the annular tool supporting axially the open end of the tube, the pilot tool is moved against the closed end of the tube and bulges a portion of the tube in a recess provided in the plate or in the anvil washer against one side of the plate. The annular tool is then moved axially to flare the open end of the tube against the opposite side of the plate.
