The tools can clean and machine at a 45.degree. angle along a weld seam or at a 90.degree. angle relative to the top, sides and bottoms of a window frame. The window frame is engaged by an inner conveyor belt that moves the frame into and out of a first cleaning position for cleaning and machining the top corners of the window frame, and into and out of a second cleaning position for cleaning and machining the bottom corners. The inner conveyor includes fixed and movable fences, tabletop back fences, and clamps. The top corners are simultaneously cleaned and the bottom corners are simultaneously cleaned.

  • Patent number: 5253398
Abstract: A hydraulically-driven deburring shear assembly used to remove dross from the edges of a slab of steel that has been torch cut. The assembly comprises a table assembly, a pair of arms, and a knife assembly. Each arm is adapted to alternately act as a pinch roll and a pusher arm to effect the consecutive deburring of opposed edges of a slab of steel, as follows. After the slab of steel is placed on the table, one of the arms is lowered to rest on the slab and apply a downward pressure on the slab, and the other arm is lowered to come into contact with the leading edge of the slab. At the same time, the knife assembly is raised to the level of the table. The other arm then pushes the leading edge of the slab back over the knife assembly to shear the dross from the edge. Both arms are then raised, the knife assembly is lowered, and the slab is traversed in the forward direction.

  • Patent number: 5179772
Abstract: Apparatus for removing burrs which develop on semifinished metallic produ in the course of a flame cutting operation has a shaft which is driven to rotate about a horizontal axis and carries an array of round, polygonal and/or oblong cutting tools which extend radially beyond its peripheral surface. The shaft is movable up and down adjacent the path of movement of metallic products with the burrs located at the undersides of the products. When a burr is moved to a position above the shaft, the latter is lifted and is set in rotary motion so that its axially staggered tools remove and simultaneously fragmentize the burr. The shaft is then lowered and the product is advanced to move another burr of the same product to an optimum position for removal of the burr or to provide room for transport of another product to the deburring station. The tools can be used for removal of burrs from straight or curved metallic products.

  • Patent number: 4752994
Abstract: A scarfing apparatus for removing a weld bead from a tube being produced by a continuous method wherein the tube enters one end of a rotatable hollow spindle which supports a tool bit. The tool bit has an arcuate shape having a segment which extends 180.degree. or less about the periphery of the tube. The spindle oscillates rotationally causing the tool bit to rock back and forth across the surface of the moving tube to remove the weld bead. The tool bit is formed of carbide steel containing tantalum, titanium and cobalt. The tool bit has a forward face portion and a bottom face portion which define a tooling edge at their intersection. The bottom face portion slopes upwardly at an angle of approximately 3.degree. to reduce friction on the tube. For use with carbon steel tubing, a bit is used having a forward face portion angled approximately 15.degree. from the vertical. For use with stainless steel or aluminized material, a bit is used having a forward face portion angled back approximately 21.degree.
