  • Patent number: 10288097
Abstract: A fiber-reinforced resin member is provided in which a non-conductive sleeve and first and second non-conductive sheets are disposed between a metal fastening member and CFRP laminate, electrical continuity between the metal fastening member and the CFRP laminate is cut off, and corrosion of the metal fastening member due to galvanic corrosion is prevented. A first annular space is formed between a first flange portion of a first member and the first non-conductive sheet, a second annular space is formed between a second flange portion of a second member and the second non-conductive sheet. Therefore, even if frayed carbon fiber sticks out from a gap between the non-conductive sleeve and the first and second non-conductive sheets, due to the first and second annular spaces being formed therein, it is possible to prevent the sticking-out carbon fiber from contacting the first and second members and providing electrical continuity.

  • Patent number: 9070485
Abstract: In a reactor vessel (20) covered by cooling water (2), a tubular frame (10) with a bottom is hung within the cooling water (2) while still having an air environment in the interior, and the bottom section of the frame (10) is disposed within the reactor vessel (20), thereby achieving an air environment within the reactor vessel (20). Furthermore, since repairs to the reactor vessel (20) are performed by using the frame (10) while still having the air environment in the interior, this leads to the prevention of contamination and achieves improvements in working conditions such as preventing the generation of dust and reducing decontamination work. Accordingly, repairs can be performed in an air environment without draining the cooling water (2) within the reactor vessel (20), even in a state in which the reactor vessel (20) is covered by the cooling water (2).

Abstract: The invention relates to a single- or multi-wire welding torch (6), more specifically to a laser-hybrid single- or multi-wire welding head provided with the welding torch (6) which can be connected to a welding device via a hose pack and consists of several parts such as a torch handle, a tubular welding torch housing, a contact housing, a contact tube for each welding wire (21a, 21b), a gas nozzle (2) etc., wherein an internal insert (28) for receiving the contact tube(s) (20a, 20b) and the gas nozzle (2) is mounted in an end area of the welding torch housing. A fixing element (30) made at least partially of a flexible material is placed on the internal insert (28) or on the housing (2) for producing as required an, in particular, gas-tight connection between said internal insert (28) and the gas nozzle (2) pushed thereon. This connection can be established by the spatial extension of the fixing element.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for protecting downstream engine components from damage in the event of a turbine failure involves positioning a debris trap downstream of a turbo and upstream of an engine. The debris trap includes an outer body with an inlet opening at a first end of a first diameter, an outlet opening, and an interior of a second diameter which is larger than the inlet opening. An inner body extends into the interior of the outer body with air flow openings in the inner body communicating with the outlet opening. An impaction plate is supported by the inner body in axial alignment with the inlet opening. Turbo fragments strike and are slowed by impact with the impaction plate. The turbo fragments collect in the interior of the outer body with air escaping by entering the air flow openings of the inner body and passing to the outlet opening.

Abstract: A method of retrofitting an existing airfield runway sign with a single LED lamp. Light is produced by a linear array of white-light LEDs. A cylindrical lens is mounted longitudinally adjacent to the LEDs, and collects a central portion of the light emitted from the LEDs. A pair of inclined surfaces extend from the lateral edges of the LEDs to respective lateral edges of the cylindrical lens. The inclined surfaces have a rough surface texture and reflect light diffusely. The inclined surfaces collect a peripheral portion of the light emitted from the LEDs, and direct the reflected light toward the cylindrical lens. The LEDs, cylindrical lens and inclined surfaces are all mechanically supported by a heat sink. The replacement lamp is placed into a runway sign near its top or bottom edge, and illuminates both viewing surfaces of the runway sign simultaneously without a diffuser.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for performing repair on the floor or side wall of a swimming pool or of a large body of liquid by creating a workable space without fully draining the water or liquid. The apparatus utilizes a sturdy solid tube to create a separation between the area enclosed within the tube and body of liquid outside. A guiding lid with multiple openings allows a specific tool to be guided into the tube for conducting repairs. A draining assembly drains the liquid enclosed within the tube. A drier assembly creates a dry workable space within the tube. A repair assembly is used to conduct a specific repair operation including spray painting, filling up holes, filling in caulking to cover up cracks, sanding within the workable space. An inspection assembly is used to remotely inspect the surface that needs repair.
