  • Patent number: 7201408
Abstract: A slidable bolt assembly (4) having a tension spring (16) mounted to a slide bolt rod (5). The actuating lever (8) is adapted to be pivotally mounted and is hand-operated. The actuating lever (8) is attached to a leaf tension spring (16) at one end and securely fastened to a bolt rod (5) on the other. The bolt member (5) is projected and retracted within the door by pivotal action of the actuating lever (8). Because the slidable bolt assembly (4) is attachable to the front of a door, the assembly (4) may be used on either an active (2) or inactive (3) door. In addition, the decorative mounting plate (7) allows a user to tastefully protect his or her home or business from excessive force caused by winds, intruders or other undesirable elements and promotes safety by restricting unauthorized individuals from access into or out of a room.

  • Patent number: 6764115
Abstract: A snap lock for securing to a sash of a sliding window or door by interacting with a striking plate and for securing to a frame of the sliding window or door. The snap lock comprises stationary lower and upper plates for sandwiching a rectilinearly mobile plate for locking the snap lock with respect to the striking plate. The snap lock includes as well: a three-point pivoting mechanism for interconnecting the foregoing plates to perform an unlocking operation; a springy feature for keeping, when relieved from tension, the rectilinearly mobile plate in an unlocked, retracted position, and when under tension, for keeping the rectilinearly mobile plate in a locked position, the springy feature being attached to the stationary lower and upper plates and being actuated by a contact with the striking plate; and a cover having an aperture for locating and accessing a button for acting upon the three-point pivoting mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5897148
Abstract: A door latch for latching the vehicle door in the closed position includes a fork bolt pivotally mounted on the latch housing for movement between the latching position engaging a striker in an unlatching position to unlatch from the striker and permit opening of the door. A detent lever is pivotally mounted on the latch housing for movement between an engaging position engaging the fork bolt in its latching position and a disengaging position disengaged from the fork bolt to permit pivoting of the fork bolt to its unlatching position. A spring acts between the detent lever and the latch housing to urge the detent lever to the engaged position. A catch member is provided to retain the detent lever in the disengaged position and block pivoting movement of the detent member to the engaging position in response to absence of the spring.

  • Patent number: 5664811
Abstract: A release mechanism for use with fuel filler door latch systems that provides superior control of door movement during the entire service life of the motor vehicle. The biasing mechanism of the present invention includes a kick-out spring that acts directly against the striker bar. As such, the kick-out spring is not exposed to over-stressing and does not cause undue wear of the automobile body. The kick-out spring is a leaf spring having a first end that is secured to the housing, an intermediate section routed between posts extending outwardly from the housing, and a cantilevered second end that is oriented to be engaged and resiliently deflected by the striker bar when the fuel filler door is moved toward its closed position. In the closed position, the striker bar forcibly biases the second end of the kick-out spring to a deflected position.

  • Patent number: 5524944
Abstract: A lockable latch mechanism for receiving the hasp of a padlock and locking a hinged door to a door jamb to prevent opening of the door when the door is closed and the latch is in engagement with the jamb. The latch includes a sliding latch mounted on the door including a latch plate and a latch bolt. A latch bolt defines a cam surface engagable with the jamb to cam the latch bolt away from the jamb as the door is closed. Biasing springs are utilized to bias the latch bolt outwardly with respect to the latch plate and to bias the latch plate and latch bolt together outwardly with respect to the door jamb. A detent prevents movement between the latch plate and the latch bolt when the latch is mounted on a door and latched behind a door jamb.

  • Patent number: 4986578
Abstract: A door latching arrangement is provided for an enclosure that stores energy at each position in a range of opening positions such that if the door is manipulated to permit opening, sufficient energy is available to permit the automatic latching of the door upon closing. The door latching arrangement includes a movable latch arm which in a specific arrangement is carried by the door. The latch arm is biased to engage a projection or hasp of the enclosure when the door is closed. A latch retaining member carried by the door is arranged to interact with the latch arm to prevent the engagement of the latch arm by the hasp. Movement of the latch arm to disengaged the hasp, coupled with the opening of the door to separate the hasp and the latch retaining member, results in the latch retaining member moving to a position to interact with and retain the latch arm.

  • Patent number: 4866963
Abstract: A system for securing the loading doors of trucks, semi-trailers, and other like enclosures against forced or unauthorized entry should the usual manually operable closure device on such doors be breached. The system comprises a locking arrangement which is disposed entirely within but which is selectively operable from the exterior of the enclosure as by a special key or by activation of an electronic or electric circuit through entry of a predetermined code or signal. The locking arrangement includes a plunger which is automatically engageable with a strike member to secure a door upon its closure and which is moveable to an inoperative position by the action of a pneumatic or hydraulic cylinder or electric solenoid or other like activator.

  • Patent number: 4601504
Abstract: A high security lock of the type having a base, a bolt which moves on the base and engages a strike, and a dead lock tripper which interacts with the strike to automatically lock the bolt is improved by including a lock prevent member in association with the bolt. The lock prevent member inhibits the bolt from moving from an unlocked to a locked position in spite of the dead lock tripper interacting with the strike. A secondary key can be used to inactivate the lock prevent member such that the lock returns to its normal mode of operation with the interaction of the dead lock tripper and the strike automatically locking the lock.

  • Patent number: 4489966
Abstract: A latch for a door or cover associated with a wall or enclosure. A movable latch arm on the door or cover is spring biased to engage a projection on the wall or enclosure when the door or cover is closed. A blocking member on the door or cover is biased for movement into the path of movement of the arm to prevent its engagement of the projection. With the door or cover closed, the projection holds the blocking member out of the arm's path. Movement of the arm to disengage the projection and coupled with opening of the door or cover to separate the projection and the blocking member, results in the blocking member blocking the arm. Reclosure of the door or cover results in the blocking member being held out of the path of the arm which automatically re-engages the projection. The arm and the blocking member may be on the wall or enclosure and the projection may be on the door or cover. The latching system may include two or more projections, blocking members and arms, and the latter may be commonly movable.
