Abstract: An armrest is movable between a stowed position disposed within a recess of a seat back and deployed position extending from the recess. A bracket fixedly secured to the seat back includes a slot having an angled portion connected with a vertical portion, which is connected with an arcuate portion. First and second pins extend laterally from a proximal end of the armrest and are pivotally and slidably coupled to the slot. The first pin travels along the angled portion and the second pin travels along the vertical portion in response to pivotal movement of the armrest, thereby lifting the armrest to prevent interference between the proximal end of the armrest and the seat back. The first pin remains at the transition between the angled portion and the vertical portion and the second pin travels along the arcuate portion in response to further pivotal movement of the armrest.

  • Patent number: 8240754
Abstract: A motor vehicle seat is provided that includes, but is not limited to a backrest, which may be pivoted from an essentially upright usage position into an essentially horizontal non-usage position and which has at least one wing rest, which includes, but is not limited to a support part and a cushion part fastened on the support part. The support part is linked on a middle backrest part in such a way that the wing rest may be pivoted, in the non-usage position of the backrest, from a lower armrest non-usage position around the pivot axis extending in the seat direction into an upper armrest usage position to implement an armrest. In the armrest usage position, the cushion part is situated above the middle backrest part while implementing an intermediate space between the cushion part and the middle backrest part. The support part has a cover plate, which covers the intermediate space in one transverse direction. Furthermore, a seating configuration is provided having such a motor vehicle seat.

Abstract: A seat belt is provided for the protection of vehicle occupants of an automobile against accidents that includes, but is not limited to a webbing for restraining the vehicle occupant, a locking tongue movably connected to the webbing in a longitudinal direction of the webbing for locking with a belt lock, and a textile retaining device connected immovably to the webbing, having an insertion opening for at least partial receipt of the locking tongue. The retaining device forms an outlet opening opposite the insertion opening. Since the region opposite the insertion opening is not closed, but open, the design structure of the retaining device can be simplified and a simpler fastening of the retaining device to the webbing can be achieved, so that the manufacture of the seat belt is simplified.

  • Patent number: 7585022
Abstract: A vehicle seat system, especially for aircraft, has seat components such as a backrest (5) and a seat part (3) bordered at least on one side by a console (9) forming the arm rest. An arm-like operating part (13) extends at least partially above the plane of the head of the seat occupant (45), and has operating elements which are used at least in part to enhance comfort and/or suitable within the context of operation, especially flight operation, for this purpose. Because the arm-like operating part (13) forms a widening of the console (9) and extends forward proceeding from the area of the backrest (5) above the console (9) in an extension, and because the arm-like operating part (13) is configured as a rigid arched support, an aesthetically pleasing solution is obtained requiring little installation space, saving weight and providing a multifunction solution.

Abstract: An armrest is concealed within a recessed cavity formed in the lateral edge of a seat back. The armrest is mounted on an axle member that extends horizontally into the seat back cavity. A housing member is fixed within the seat back and slidably receives the axle member. A spring urges the axle member to an extended position in which the armrest is ejected from its concealed location within the seat back cavity to enable pivoting movement of the armrest from the vertical stored position to a horizontal armrest forming position. A latch acts between the axle member and the housing member to normally retain the axle member at its stored position within the housing member. A push button is associated with the latch and is pressed by the user to release the latch so that the spring will eject the armrest from the cavity.
