Abstract: A movable seating arrangement includes a seat pan, a back support rigidly connected with the seat pan, and a seat member slidably mounted to the seat pan. The seat member can be moved from a retracted position proximate the back support to an extended position displaced forward of the upright position, without movement of the back support. In certain embodiments, a lumbar support is mounted to the back support, and motion of the seat member to its extended position causes a mid portion of the lumbar support to flex forward from a flattened position.

Abstract: A locking chair adjustment mechanism for adjusting a position of a chair component. The mechanism comprises a central shaft, a spiral jaw clutch comprising two interconnecting spiral jaw interfaces and a slotted element wherein the slot is sized to slideably receive the central shaft for displacement of the slotted element when the mechanism is in an unlocked position. A locking pad locks the mechanism against the slotted element. A rotatable adjustment handle allows the mechanism to toggle from a locked position, to an unlocked position, by displacement of the spring mechanism caused by the rotation of the spiral jaw interface fixedly mounted on the adjustment handle, therefore releasing pressure on the locking pad. A spring mechanism is activated when the claimed mechanism goes from a locked position to an unlocked position, pulling the claimed mechanism back to a locked position. The claimed mechanism provides a low cost solution offering better locking capabilities than traditional braking mechanisms.

Abstract: A latch assembly with a first leg securing to a seat bottom and a second leg pivotally engaged to an upper end of a stanchion mount. A sector is pivotally slaved to the second leg opposing the stanchion and exhibits a bottom shoulder projection separating into first and second surface locations. A pendulum pivotally secures to the stanchion and seats against a first sector location with the seat bottom in a downward position. The seat bottom is rotated in an upward direction, causing a detent lever to pivot out of engagement with a notch location of a supporting frame and travel along an edge extending profile thereof, simultaneous with the sector displacing relative to the pendulum. The detent lever reestablishes seating engagement with a second notch location concurrent with the pendulum pivoting into engagement with a second sector location corresponding to an upwardly rotated position of the seat.
