  • Patent number: 4923258
Abstract: A produce rack for the display and storage of produce having a display surface and an opening allowing the produce to be viewed. Refrigerated air is provided to the produce through the display surface. Water is periodically sprayed onto the produce by an automatic watering system. A flexible cover selectively closes the opening to optimize the condition of the air inside the display area. The cover includes a plurality of transparent curtains that roll up on rollers for storage and roll down for use. Strip connectors close the gaps between adjacent curtains. Hook and loop fasteners on the edges of the curtains and connectors allow the connectors to be secured to the curtains across the gaps simply by placing the connectors across the gaps.

  • Patent number: 4914339
Abstract: A misting system is constructed of plastic pipe having a square cross-section, the pipe being dark inside and light outside so that the outside matches the counter and the inside absorbs ultra violet light. The plastic pipe is drilled and threaded to receive nozzle assemblies where needed. Each nozzle assembly includes a valve, and two angled branches, the branches being rotatable about the assembly while the nozzle branches are rotatable about their axes. The square pipe includes fittings for directing the pipe as required, and mounting brackets for mounting the pipe. The brackets are clevises that receive the pipe therein, and include keepers for securing the pipe.

  • Patent number: 4808303
Abstract: The present invention represents an automatic produce hydration system of improved efficiency and design. The system is self-contained, and adaptable for use in both pre-existing and new produce display racks. The system first includes a filter unit designed to remove foreign particulate materials from incoming water. In fluid communication with the filter unit is an automatic filter cleaning system for ejecting collected foreign particulate materials from the system at selected time intervals. After filtration, the water is introduced into a pressurization system. Once the pressure has been increased, pressurized water is delivered through an external water delivery line having a plurality of spray heads associated therewith. The spray heads have restriction means therein to ensure that a fine mist-like spray is delivered to the produce materials.
