  • Patent number: 11894673
Abstract: A circuit includes input terminals adapted to be coupled to a battery; a ground terminal; and an electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection circuit coupled to the input terminals. The ESD protection circuit includes: a switch coupled between the ground terminal and the input terminals; and a control circuit coupled to the input terminals and to the switch. The control circuit is configured to: detect an ESD event at one of the input terminals; detect a transient voltage at one of the input terminals, in which the transient voltage is caused by an initial coupling of that input terminal to the battery; detect a condition in which the switch has been closed for longer than a threshold amount of time; close the switch responsive to the detected ESD event; and open the switch responsive to the detected transient voltage or the detected condition.

  • Patent number: 11847897
Abstract: A method for presence detection in an environment to be monitored, includes generating an electric charge signal in a condition of absence of presence in the environment to be monitored. An electric charge signal is generated in an operating condition in which a person may be present in the environment. The two generated signals are processed and the results of the processing are compared. Processing the signals includes representing in a biaxial reference system the value of the charge signal considered and its derivative with respect to time, and identifying a plurality of points in the reference system. By comparing the position of the points acquired during the possible human presence with those of the base shape, a variation indicating the actual human presence may be detected. In this case an alarm signal is generated.

  • Patent number: 11828851
Abstract: We provide a wide-field time-resolved imaging apparatus using resonant drive. We also identify ideal configurations of electro-optic (EO) modulator crystals for wide-field imaging. These techniques enable compact and low-cost LIDAR imaging devices. Resonant drive affords modulation of various EO modulators at high voltage by means of resonant voltage enhancement. Further, it enables operation of imaging modulators at high frequencies which would otherwise not be possible with conventional pulsed drivers—this leads to improved LIDAR accuracy and dynamic range. Resonant drive uniquely enables Pockels cell LIDAR beyond normal flash mode by allowing for multiple pulses or multiple cycles of amplitude modulated illumination to be present simultaneously in a scene. This corresponds to illumination and modulation waveforms having a defined phase relationship where time-of-flight is encoded in the phase of the returning light waveform.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer readable media to improve the operation of thermographic imaging systems are described. Techniques are disclosed for generating thermograms using single low-noise photon detectors. More particularly, an array of single low-noise photon detectors operating in the Geiger mode may be used to accurately identify the time delay between the application of a periodic power stimulus to a device under test and the generation of photons resulting from that stimulus. In one embodiment an array of single photon detectors may be used to time-tag each detected photon. Thereafter, a high-speed counting circuit can correlate the detected photons to the applied stimulus. When operating at the frequencies possible in the Geiger mode, such measurements permit a higher degree of spatial resolution (e.g., in the x, y and z axes) of thermal hot-spots within the device under test than prior art approaches.

  • Patent number: 9804216
Abstract: Embodiments relate to a method, apparatus, and system for passively detecting strength of an electromagnetic field. An electroactive polymer (EAP) is configured with an antenna in communication with an RC circuit. The EAP is positioned proximal to a sensor. In response to receipt of a transient electromagnetic pulse due to an electrostatic discharge, the circuit captures the received pulse and transmits the pulse to the EAP. The EAP reacts to the pulse in the form of a deflection. The magnitude of the deflection correlates to the field strength which caused the received pulse. As deflection of the EAP is communicated to the proximally positioned sensor, a recording of the electrostatic discharge takes place.
