With Resistor Cleaner Patents (Class 338/75)
  • Patent number: 5554965
Abstract: The present invention provides a lubricated variable resistance control including a substrate having formed thereon an electrical resistance path and an electrical conductive path, and a movable contact electrically bridging the electrical resistance path and the electrical conductive path. Disposed along the electrical conductive path is a non-conductive lubricant material. The electrical conductive path includes one or more protruding ridges spaced along one surface of the electrical resistance path. The ridges are formed of an electrically resistive material and they serve to help insure that the control device does not suffer from current interruptions.

  • Patent number: 5525955
Abstract: An annular resistor member having two non-contact ends is overlaid and adhered on the surface of a base, and a rotational shaft located at the central portion of the resistor member is pivotally axially supported via a bearing. A bent electrode arm is fitted on the rotational shaft, and is connected to an output terminal via the rotational shaft or a connection means. A movable electrode, which opposes to the resistor member via a gap, is integrally formed on the end portion of the electrode arm, and a capacitor is formed between the movable electrode and the resistor member. In the above structure, when an AC power supply is flowed across the two ends of the resistor member, the capacitor is formed between the movable electrode and the resistor member, and an attenuated voltage is generated on the movable electrode.

  • Patent number: 5302937
Abstract: In connection with a potentiometer, which may in particular serve as actuator element for an electronic accelerator pedal and where a base plate carries the respective resistance and collector path(s), it is proposed that instead of providing the usual metallic inserts in the base plate to serve as sliding surface, at least one additional surface shape be applied on the base plate, preferably by printing, and that this additional shape be applied, preferably printed, on the base plate preferably by the same operation as the resistance and collector paths and using the same or a similar material having good sliding properties, and can then serve as sliding and supporting surface for at least one wiper carrier of the potentiometer.

  • Patent number: 5258737
Abstract: A potentiometer, which avoids problems caused when abraded material collects on the surface of the potentiometer track as a result of friction between the wiper contact and the potentiometer track, causing an undesirable increase in the contact resistance. Potentiometer track and wiper contact wear is also speeded up by this abrasion, which shortens the service life of the potentiometer. The novel potentiometer has a magnet, on a movable extension arm, that removes the abraded material from the surface of the potentiometer track in a contactless manner, thus preventing increased deposition of abraded material on the potentiometer track that would otherwise occur with increased time in operation. The novel potentiometer is especially suitable for air flow rate meters of mixture-compressing, externally ignited or air-compressing, self-igniting engines.

  • Patent number: 5192939
Abstract: A device for cleaning the contacts of a potentiometer or the like. The potentiometer has an externally threaded cylinder extending outwardly from a panel of an electronic unit and has a concentric rotatable shaft extending therethrough. The shaft has at least one internal contact which rotates when the shaft is rotated and engages a stationary contact in the form of a slide wire or the like of the potentiometer. Contaminants prevent good electrical conduction between the contacts so that the potentiometer must be cleaned, heretofore, requiring partial disassembly of the electronic unit in which it is internally located. The cleaning device has a housing with an open end and a closed end, with the open end having internal threads connecting with the external threads of the cylinder protruding from the electronic unit panel. A small tube communicates with the closed end of the housing and with a pressurized container of contact cleaning fluid.
