  • Patent number: 11661698
Abstract: Devices for dewatering washed laundry have a pressing membrane. The pressing membrane is releasably fastened below a ram plate of the device by way of a fastening ring. This connection is very complex by virtue of the heavy weight of the pressing membrane which has a diameter of approximately 1 m. In order for the fastening of the pressing membrane by way of the fastening ring below the ram plate to be facilitated, it is provided that the pressing membrane on the membrane collar thereof has at least one internal-side protrusion which while assembling the pressing membrane below the ram plate forms a bearing for the fastening ring. On account thereof, the fastening ring is temporarily supported below the ram plate while assembling the pressing membrane, this permitting easier assembling of the pressing membrane below the ram plate.

  • Patent number: 6038785
Abstract: A vacuum dryer panel for a leather drying machine wherein a dryer panel comprising a porous screen is mounted over a perforated plate on the underside of a vacuum chamber positioned above a heated drying table on which leather skins are dried. The dryer panel comprises a layer of fine mesh screen preferably formed of a synthetic resin material mounted on a porous backing preferably formed of a synthetic resin material. The backing material is adapted to be mounted adjacent an outer side of the perforated plate and provides porosity between the screen and adjacent openings of the perforated plate. The backing material is sufficiently rigid to prevent the screen material from being pulled into openings in the perforated plate by a negative pressure on the upper side of the plate, so as to prevent marks in the dried leather. The edges of the dryer panel are folded over and incorporate reinforcing strips. Threaded fasteners fit through spaced openings in the edges for mounting the dryer panel to a vacuum chamber.

  • Patent number: 4612710
Abstract: An apparatus for drying gel slabs supplies heat to a horizontal gel slab from a heating plate above the slab, while drawing a vacuum beneath. The heating plate is weighted and has a flat lower surface at least coextensive with the gel slab. The slab itself is placed on a porous support pad in a vacuum chamber enclosed at the top with a flexible cover which clings to the gel and seals to the perimeter of the chamber when a vacuum is applied from below. The heating plate rests on top of the cover under gravitational force, providing even heating across the entire expanse of the gel slab and for the entire duration of the drying process, resulting in a continuous and uniform vapor flow downward from the gel slab, a minimization of internal stresses, and reduced susceptibility of the gel to cracking.

A single restraint device is comprised of a pair of inverted leaf springs joined together at their centers and having a strap extending from one end of the top spring about the load of lumber and terminating at the other end of the top spring together with a tensioning device for the strap. Before the load of lumber is placed in the dry kiln, the tensioning device will draw down both the bottom and top leaf springs close to the load where the tensioning device will lock them in place. During drying, as the load shrinks, the top spring will be relaxed while the bottom spring will maintain a force across the width of the load, thereby substantially reducing warp.
