An energy is computed for each seam based on pixel importance values. A distance is computed from each seam to a previously selected seam. A weighting for each seam is computed using a defined weighting function and the calculated seam distances. The weighting is applied to the energy of each seam produce a revised energy for each seam. A seam is selected based on the produced revised energy. The image is resized at a location of the selected seam. The process repeats until the image has been resized to a desired target output dimension. In such a manner, unnatural image resizing results are avoided.

Reading the lines of the frame into linestores comprises reading M lines of each successive 2nd line of the frame lines into the linestores. Following generation of the output video line, a further X lines are read from the framestore into the linestores to provide a further set of M lines in the linestores. The M lines are applied to the vertical filter to provide a further output video line as a function of the lines.

Abstract: A video signal conversion part of a horizontal deflection circuit deletes a prescribed number of horizontal scanning lines from a vertical blanking interval of an input video signal and assigns a time corresponding to the deleted horizontal scanning lines to horizontal blanking intervals of the remaining horizontal scanning lines thereby extending the horizontal blanking interval of each horizontal scanning line and outputting a video signal. A synchronizing signal separation circuit extracts a horizontal synchronizing signal and a vertical synchronizing signal from the video signal output from the video signal conversion part. An output part of the horizontal deflection circuit supplies a sawtooth horizontal deflection current to a horizontal deflection yoke in synchronization with the horizontal synchronizing signal output from the synchronizing signal separation circuit.

Abstract: An expanded-image generating apparatus is provided for original image data, in which a plurality of pixels is arranged in a matrix, so as to obtain expanded-image data partitioned into a plurality of blocks, each of which is composed of a plurality of pixels When the magnifying power regarding at least one of a direction along width and a direction along length in the original image data is set, a pixel arranging processor arranges each pixel in the original image data at a position corresponding to a center position of each of the plurality of blocks in accordance with the magnifying power. The expanded-image data corresponding to the magnifying power is generated at pixel generating positions corresponding to the each block by applying a fluency transform to each pixel in the original image data at the position.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for displaying a television picture or monitor picture on a display screen. In order to achieve a largely line-free display while degrading the vertical contrast of the picture as little as possible, an approach is proposed in which a vertical contrast value is determined from a video input signal (Y), the vertical contrast value is compared with a limiting value (a, b), and a vertical widening of a light spot region of the lines covered by the scanning beam is set as a function of this comparison, preferably by a vertical sweep of the scanning beam. If the vertical contrast value is below the limiting value (a, b), a smaller vertical widening of the light spot region is set than if the vertical contrast value is above the limiting value (a, b).

Abstract: This invention comprises an inspection method conducted by rotary-coating a photoresist on the surface of a semiconductor substrate, irradiating ultraviolet rays using an exposure instrument such as a stepper, exposing the entire photoresist, removing the exposed photoresist using an alkali developing solution, and irradiating a laser beam onto the semiconductor substrate to detect foreign substances through the scattered light. Accordingly, gel foreign substances remain on the semiconductor substrate even after the steps of exposure and development, so that their presence can be detected surely. Furthermore, this invention provides a method and an apparatus of surely detecting gel foreign substances which are present in a photoresist film or between patterns by exposing the photoresist and performing etching and ashing, using gel foreign substances which remained through the development as a mask.

Abstract: Input image information from an input terminal is stored in a line buffer for several lines and smoothed, and then an interpolation value for plural pixels is obtained by an interpolation unit. Further, maximum and minimum values are detected from information of a noticeable pixel and its peripheral pixels. An arithmetic unit performs calculation by using these detected values (interpolation value, maximum value and minimum value) and a predetermined value to obtain a high-resolution output value h(k). By this calculation, a jagless clear high-resolution image can be obtained even in a case where a contrast of inputted low-resolution information is deteriorated.
