Including Housing Patents (Class 361/142)
  • Patent number: 11776776
Abstract: A power circuit breaker has a housing defining a first passage and a cross passage through the housing. A bus bar extends through the cross passage and is configured to transmit electric power and/or break transmission of the electric power through the housing. The bus bar includes at least an input section, a coin or center section, and an output section that are separable from each other. The housing aligns a solenoid piston within the first passage of the housing. The solenoid has a piston with two opposite ends, and one of the ends operates as a plunger to separate the sections of the bus bar when the solenoid is actuated. The plunger moves the coin or center section of the bus bar out of contact with the input section and the output section of the bus bar to break electrical transmission across the bus bar.

  • Patent number: 7206888
Abstract: A novel backplane routing and configuration (200) supports a full mesh architecture. In this novel configuration, a circuit pack determines which backplane signals to use for a transmission based on the relative distance across the backplane between the board sending the communication and the board receiving the communication. Boards sending the same relative distance use the same rows of signals (204). That is, each row associated with the meshed interconnection is assigned a relative shift or distance for a connection. The rows (204) that represent a greater relative distance for shift between boards are intermixed next to rows (204) that have a relatively short distance between shifts or boards. In this manner, the number of layers required is minimized and the utilization of routing channels is optimized. In particular, for a N slot backplane with one routing channel between rows, (N/2+1) layers are required, rather than N layers. And, vertical routing is not required.

  • Patent number: 5486972
Abstract: The coil of an electric control device is energized by ac power controlled by a remotely generated logic level signal through a control module mounted in a cavity in the exterior of the device housing. The module contains a pair of back-to-back silicon controlled rectifiers (SCRs) mounted on a finned aluminum wall of the module which serves as a heat sink. An opto-coupler comprising a light emitting diode (LED) energized by the logic level signal and an opto-triac in series with resistors connected across the gates and cathodes of the back-to-back SCRs provides electrically isolated control of the conduction angles of the SCRs by the logic level signal.

  • Patent number: 5467246
Abstract: An H-5 relay air valve emulating circuit for use in an electropneumatic railway brake control equipment including an operational amplifier comparator and a solenoid relay. The operational amplifier comparator includes a positive and a negative input and an output. The positive input is connected to an automatic brake cylinder request terminal, while the negative input is connected to a reference signal terminal. The output of the operational amplifier comparator is connected to the electrical coil of the solenoid relay which has a movable heel contact as well as a front and a back contact. The front contact is connected to an independent brake cylinder request terminal, while the back contact is connected to a zero reference terminal. The movable heel contact of the solenoid relay is connected to an independent contact point of a J-relay emulating circuit which is conditioned to either produce 160% of the simulated control pressure signal or to produce 100% of the simulated control pressure signal.

  • Patent number: 4893213
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a multi-stage solenoid in a housing having a first set of electrical contacts and at least a second set of electrical contacts. The solenoid also has at least two coil windings electrically distinct from each other and disposed sequentially in the housing. Additionally, the solenoid uses a timing circuit separately connected through a first set of contacts to each of the coil windings to control when they each receive electricity thereby activating the corresponding magnetically responsive element. The solenoid also uses a plunger having a flange of an electrically conducting material. The plunger is disposed in an original position in the housing in contact with one of the magnetically responsive elements.
