Abstract: A transformer has two magnetic cores, at least one primary winding unit mounted in the magnetic cores, at least one secondary winding unit mounted in the magnetic cores and two rectifying circuit boards externally mounted beside the magnetic cores. An AC voltage output from the secondary winding unit is transmitted to and rectified by the rectifying circuit board. Abstract: A multi-layer micro-printed circuit board (PCB) is disclosed, which defines a magnetic component, such as a transformer, using planar technology. Instead of using the traditional twelve-layer PCB incorporating both a primary and a secondary winding, this invention stacks multiple PCBs, each having four or six layers and each including a single winding (either the primary or the secondary). The PCBs are stacked in an offset arrangement such that the pins penetrating the PCB or PCBs including the primary winding or windings do not penetrate the PCB or PCBs including the secondary winding or windings. Additionally, this offset arrangement prevents the pins penetrating the secondary PCBs from penetrating the primary PCBs in the same manner. This offset configuration thereby avoids significant flashover problems associated with current planar components.

Abstract: In a discharge lamp apparatus for a vehicle, it is determined that a grounded condition is present when a lamp voltage is less than a predetermined voltage and a lamp current is less than a predetermined current. Electric power supply to the lamp is stopped temporarily in response to the determination of the grounded condition, and then the lighting operation is restarted again. If the grounded condition is determined again, the above operation is repeated. If this repetition continues for a predetermined period, the lighting operation is disabled continuously. In controlling the lamp, a voltage of a battery is boosted by a voltage booster transformer, which is turned on and off by a MOS transistor so that electric power supplied to the lamp is duty-controlled. An upper limit is set to the duty ratio, and the upper limit is increased as the lamp current decreases, so that the lighting characteristics of the lamp is improved.

Abstract: In the case where a power supply circuit assembly having a small transformer and various electronic components mounted on a mounting substrate is housed in an insulating case, and the case is filled with a resin, the occurrence of cracks at soldering parts situated around the roots of pin terminals projecting from a lower surface of the mounting substrate is avoided. In a circuit block configured in such a manner that an assembly (1) comprising a mounting substrate (2) constituting the power supply circuit is housed in a case (13), and the case (13) is filled with a resin (14), primary-side pin terminals (11) and secondary-side pin terminals (12) are formed to have an L-shape, and their linear portions pass through a coil bobbin (6).

  • Patent number: 6225560
Abstract: An advanced microelectronic component package incorporating a specially shaped base element which holds and electrically separates the individual conductors associated with the microelectronic component(s) so that the individual conductors may be bonded to external package leads and other conductors within the package. In a first embodiment, jacketed, insulated wire is used as one winding of a toroidal transformer, while unjacketed insulated wire is used as another winding. The jacketing is stripped from the first winding and the exposed conductors are routed into channels along the sides of the base element. The unjacketed conductors are also routed into the same channels, where both conductors are bonded to the external package leads. Raised elements along the sides of the base provide the required electrical separation between the conductors during both manufacture and operation. A method of manufacturing the improved microelectronic package is also disclosed.

Abstract: In a discharge lamp lighting apparatus for a discharge lamp, each circuit component including a starter transformer is assembled to a bus bar casing, and a high voltage terminal of the starter transformer is connected to one end of a connecting terminal. The bus bar casing is adhesive-cemented to a metal base to which a HIC is attached. Then, a sealing resin fills the bus bar casing to seal the starter transformer and the HIC with the sealing resin. After the sealing resin solidifies, the other end of the connecting terminal and an output cable are connected, and subsequently a resin cover is assembled to the metal base. A shielding sheath covering the output cable is fixed to the bus bar casing by a clip. A ground connection part of the bus bar connectable to the ground side of an electric power source is shaped to protrude from the bus bar casing. The cover, the clip, the ground connection part and the base are ground-connected by a thread.

Abstract: An arrangement for attaching electrical inductive components to a terminal block of a mounting base utilizes interlocking male and female plug-in connections. In instances where the electrical inductive components are measuring transformers, the arrangement accommodates higher electric currents in the area of several amperes seen in the primary winding because a galvanic connection is established simultaneously when the mechanical connection is made. Accordingly, the wiring of the primary circuit is made rapidly and without the possibility of faulty coupling. As the number of electrical inductive components increases, the arrangement disclosed provides compact construction.
