  • Patent number: 11949434
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. An encoding device (e.g., a user equipment (UE) or a base station) may divide one or more data units (e.g., packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) protocol data units (PDU)) into a set of data blocks. The encoding device may encode the set of data blocks using a fountain code and may generate a set of data units (e.g., radio link control (RLC) PDUs) based on encoding the set of data blocks using the fountain code. The UE may allocate a first subset of the set of data units to a first carrier and a second subset of the set of data units to a second carrier and may transmit the first subset over the first carrier and the second subset over the second carrier.

  • Patent number: 10419783
Abstract: A system includes a processor and a memory. The memory stores instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations including sending, via a transmitter, a primary video stream corresponding to a particular channel to a media device. The operations further include sending a secondary video stream to the media device. The secondary video stream is associated with a lower quality level than the primary video stream. Transmission of a frame of the secondary video stream is delayed with respect to transmission of a corresponding frame of the primary video stream.

  • Patent number: 9661358
Abstract: A system includes a processor and a memory. The memory stores instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations including sending a primary multicast video stream and a secondary multicast video stream to a media device. The secondary multicast video stream is limited to intra-coded frames (I-frames) extracted from the primary multicast video stream. Transmission of each intra-coded frame (I-frame) of the secondary multicast video stream is delayed with respect to transmission of a corresponding I-frame of the primary multicast video stream. The delay is based on an amount of writing time to satisfy a buffer threshold of a video content buffer at the media device to prevent a noticeable time shift of video displayed by the media device when the media device switches from outputting the secondary multicast video stream to outputting the primary multicast video stream.

  • Patent number: RE40828
Abstract: A method for encoding and decoding digital moving picture signals which can decode subframes appropriately in relation to time if a part of a bit stream is missing or an error occurs in the bit stream, and can suppress degradation of a reproduced picture if decoding of a subframe including a picture in motion in relation to time becomes unfeasible. In the method for encoding and decoding digital moving picture signals of this invention, information for one frame is encoded correspondingly to a spatial hierarchy of a frame, subframes and blocks. A subframe time position number and a subframe space number are attached to an identifier of each of the subframe, thereby resuming appropriate decoding of the subframes immediately after a trouble if an error occurs.
