The disclosed techniques comprises receiving comment text information from a user, the comment text information is associated with the video; determining that the comment text information corresponds to a predetermined type of bullet screen based on parsing the comment text information; displaying a target bullet screen being generated based on the comment text information; displaying at least one interface element each of which is selectable and corresponds to an operation associated with the target bullet screen in response to detecting a selection of the target bullet screen on a first interface for playback of the video; and controlling the video to jump to a target interface for playback of the video in response to detecting a selection of one of the at least one interface element.

Abstract: A mobile device running a mobile application accesses a remote content receiver to request the remote content receiver to retrieve a particular recording timer, and upon receiving the recording timer from the remote content receiver, establishes a radio communication link with a second mobile device and transfers the recording timer to the second mobile device over the established radio communication link. The radio communication link is preferably the Near Field Communication (NFC) link.

Abstract: After a command to stop recording a video is received, an image capture device may buffer footage in a buffer memory. The buffer memory may be used as a post-capture cache. The footage buffered in the buffer memory may be appended to the end of previously captured footage, appended to the beginning of subsequently captured footage, and/or used to bridge two separately captured footage.

Abstract: A method for automatically putting on standby an audio/video decoding system, including: obtaining information representing a program currently being broadcast by the system, referred to as the target program; performing a search for programs similar to the target program in accordance with at least one similarity criterion predefined in a database of information representing programs previously broadcast by the system, the broadcasting having been interrupted by a standby; determining a duration-of-inactivity threshold according to the number of programs similar to the target program; sending a notification intended for a user advising him of the imminent standby of the system if no interaction is noted between the user and system during a period equal to the duration-of-inactivity threshold determined after the end of the target program; and putting the system on standby if no interaction is noted between the user and system during a predefined period after sending of the notification.

Abstract: A video processing method includes following operations: receiving a seek command, and determining whether a stored data stream includes first data corresponding to a first segment of a video; if the stored data stream does not include the first data, acquiring a download link of the first segment; generating an estimated network speed value according to at least one network speed value prior to receiving the seek command, and downloading the first data from a server according to the estimated network speed value and the download link, in which the estimated network speed value is less than the at least one network speed value; and playing the first segment according to the first data to switch from a current segment of the video to the first segment.

Abstract: Systems and methods for redacting information from data records are provided. Data records are recorded by recording devices, including, but not limited to, camera recording devices such as those associated with law-enforcement officers. The data records are stored in an evidence management system. In response to requests for records, including but not limited to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, the evidence management system creates redacted versions of the data records. Public access may then be provided to the redacted data records. In some embodiments, automated bulk redaction may be applied to video data records by applying a video filter to the entire visual field of the video information. In some embodiments, access to the redacted data records may be provided via a cloud storage system or via a removable computer-readable storage medium.

Abstract: Systems and methods of managing personal video recordings are disclosed for providing a network personal video recorder (nPVR) that manages PVR recordings for a plurality of users. Recording scheduling information from a recording request received at the nPVR is checked against existing scheduled recordings and a new recording is scheduled in accordance with the received recording scheduling information if an existing scheduled recording does not already exist. The recording scheduling information received in respective recording requests are associated with respective users to facilitate playback of recorded content and digital rights management.

Abstract: Methods and systems for transmitting an interruption-free version of a television program for recording on a user equipment device. In one aspect, a system transmits a first stream including a television program to a user equipment device. The system receives an indication that the television program is being recorded on the user equipment device. The system determines whether an interruption is imminent during transmission of the television program. In response to determining that the interruption is imminent, the system generates a second stream including the television program. The second stream does not include the interruption during the transmission of the television program. The system transmits the second stream to the user equipment device along with an instruction to switch recording of the television program from the first stream to the second stream.

Abstract: Various implementations described herein are directed to determining variations or changes to a predetermined programming schedule. In accordance with one method, a predicted end time of video content may be determined to be later than a scheduled end time of the video content. Also, it may be determined that video content scheduled to be displayed on a first stream or channel has been moved to a second stream or channel. A scheduled recording or transmission time of video content may be altered based on detected changes to the predetermined programming schedule. A program listing such as an electronic program guide may be revised based on detected changes to the predetermined programming schedule.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and process described facilitate use of a first user device communicatively coupled to a local area network (LAN) The first user device may include a first hardware processor configured to execute first, non-transient, computer instructions for facilitating a first seamless DVR engine configured to identify a first content. A second user device is also coupled to the LAN. The second user device may include a second hardware processor configured to execute second, non-transient, computer instructions for facilitating a second seamless DVR configured to identify a second content. Each of the seamless DVR engines may be configured to generate a common universal directory identifying the first content and the second content as being available for use by each of the first user device and the second user device. User devices may independently populate the common universal directory. The universal directory may identify a distinct status for the content.

Abstract: Systems and methods for automatically recording media assets not explicitly scheduled for recording by a user when the user leaves his or her home. For example, when the user leaves home, a media guidance application, being executed on a user equipment device (such as a set-top box), schedules to record media assets that the user has expressed interest in, but has not explicitly scheduled for recording. If the user returns home before a recording has begun, the media guidance application does not record the media assets the user has not explicitly scheduled for recording.

Abstract: Systems and methods for recording programs using a user's equipment and a network recording device are provided. An interactive television application may determine whether the user's equipment has sufficient resources (e.g., tuners or space) to record a program selected for recording. If the interactive television application determines that the user's equipment does not have sufficient resources, the interactive television application may select, automatically or in response to a user instruction, the program for recording with a network recording device. In some embodiments, the user may have to pay for the use of the network recording device, or may be required to purchase a given tier level of service. The interactive television application may play back programs from the network recording device as VOD offerings, or may direct the network recording device to transfer recorded programs to the user's equipment when it has sufficient resources.

Abstract: Methods and systems are described herein for inserting placement opportunities into content assets. A content distributor may receive a content asset comprising a plurality of content fragments. The content distributor may be further configured to adjust a playback duration of a portion of the content fragments so that the placement opportunity may be inserted at the content asset fragment boundaries.

Abstract: Media content presentation systems and methods are operable to present media content received by a media device, wherein the media device comprises a plurality of tuner systems. An exemplary embodiment tunes the plurality of tuners to receive different broadcasting media content streams each comprising a streaming media content event; communicates the streaming media content events from the receiving tuner to a corresponding tuner buffer of the tuner system; and stores a portion of the streaming media content events into the corresponding tuner buffers. The systems and methods may recommend a third media asset to the user for the second character.

Abstract: A user device and method for operating the same includes a memory and a controller storing a recommended recording list in the memory. The controller stores recommended content from the recommended recording list in the memory. In response to selecting the live content title corresponding to recommended content stored in the memory, a screen display query at the user device is generated for determining when an earlier position of the content is desired and displaying the content from the earlier position within the recommended content when the query is affirmative.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are embodiments for an audio responsive electronic device. The audio responsive electronic device includes a data storage having stored therein an intent queue. Intents are stored in the intent queue. The audio responsive electronic device operates by receiving an indication that a user pressed the play/stop button. The audio responsive electronic device retrieves from the intent queue an intent last stored in the queue, wherein the retrieved intent is associated with content previously paused. The audio responsive electronic device also retrieves from the intent queue state information associated with the paused content, and then causes content to be played based on at least the paused content and the state information. In some embodiments, the audio responsive electronic device receives an indication that a user selected tell me something functionality.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a computer implemented method of accessing a video. The method comprises the steps of receiving a request to access the video, the request including information relating to an object of interest. The method then determines a confidence score corresponding to the request for the video capture device and determines a cost associated with adjusting the video capture device from an initial configuration state to at least one of adjusted configuration states. Access to the video is the provided from the video capture device using the at least one of adjusted configuration states based on the confidence score and the cost.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a magnetic communication method that does not use induction. For example, a transmitter device may generate a magnetic field in a controlled direction and rotate the magnetic field around one or more axes. As such, an angle according to which the magnetic field is rotated at the transmitter device may be used as a variable upon which to encode data transmitted to a receiver device that can sense a direction of the magnetic field along two or more axes. Furthermore, to achieve higher data rates, multiple rotation angles could be used to encode the data transmitted from the transmitter device to the receiver device, which may further improve security because reading and/or generating the modulated magnetic field may be increasingly difficult from any significant distance away from the transmitter device and the receiver device.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for performing an integrated search is provided. An interface is provided that allows users to search and select any data related to a searchable term. Searchable terms may comprise titles of content, actors, and tags. Upon receiving results from the initial search, the user progresses through the initial search by selecting a result from the initial search and conducting a further search of that selection. The search may progress through many layers of searching in order to find information useful to the user and the user may perform actions based upon results of the search. The search implements a display with two columns, the first column displaying selectable data, and the second column displaying results to the selected data. The search is further customizable based upon a privacy level selected by the user.

Abstract: Flat panel displays can broadcast their identity for discovery by handheld devices interested in obtaining data associated with video programming displayed on the displays. An application can be downloaded and activated on smartphones that will enable them to capture an image of the video programming and recognize is with the help of a remote server, or wirelessly obtain a list of available (discovered) flat panel displays (multiple screens, depending on venue) that allow wireless access to data associated with video programming displayed (or previously displayed and stored in a queue) on flat panels. Video programming rendering on a flat panel of interest can be identified via the smartphone and the smartphone can access additional data either directly from the flat panel or from a remote server once the data has been identified and/or engage in an interactive session in association with the displayed programming or data.

The subscription system can determine where to obtain the requested log, and provide the log to the local scheduler for insertion into a particular daypart of the local clock, while leaving the remaining dayparts free for local scheduling. Trusted subscribers can also be permitted to alter portions of log of nationally scheduled items. Inserting the log of nationally scheduled items into the local clock provides local awareness of both local and national media items scheduled for broadcast.

Abstract: A system stores a first permission parameter associated with a first user of a set of digital video recorders (DVRs) and at least a second permission parameter associated with a second user of the set. The second permission parameter defines a different level of permission for controlling the set than the first permission parameter. The set is controlled in accordance with: (i) the first request, based on the first permission parameter, and (ii) the second request, based on the second permission parameter. The controlling includes at least communicating with the set over a network. Techniques are also provided for directly obtaining information on a DVR in real time over a content network.

Abstract: Content providers, such as television companies, may multicast adaptive bitrate content, using playlist-oriented streaming techniques, to recipient devices (such as set-top boxes (“STBs”)). In a playlist-oriented streaming technique, segment files (e.g., segments of the content) may correspond to predetermined time segments. In order to mitigate lag time, when a channel is selected by a user of an STB, which may ordinarily be caused by the nature of playlist-oriented streaming techniques, an STB may obtain content, associated with the selected channel, via a unicast, non-playlist-oriented technique. Once the next segment file has been received by the STB, the STB may cease obtaining the content by the unicast technique, and may use the segment files received via multicast.

Abstract: A user device and method for operating the same includes a memory and a controller storing a recommended recording list in the memory. The controller stores recommended content from the recommended recording list in the memory and suppresses an indicator in response to storing recommended content from the recommended recording list. A device, such as a network storage device, can receive a plurality of requests to record a content item with varying start times and end times. The network device can map the start time and end time of each request to a subscriber, premises, and/or device. The network device can determine the earliest of the start times associated with the content item and the latest of the end times associated with the content item. In an aspect, the network device can make a recording, starting at the earliest start time and ending at the latest end time.
