A determining module determines whether a key on a keyboard of a portable keyboard assembly has remained depressed and if not continues to check for the existence of the variable data and translate the variable data to a keydata stream. The additional keycode processing module replaces the keydata stream with a different keydata stream if the key has remained depressed.

    Abstract: A keyboard device incorporating a power supply checks whether or not the power supply is turned on. If it is, the device determines whether or not the device is connected to a cellular phone. If the connection is determined, the keyboard device is set to an active state and a light emitting diode (LED) in an LED portion is turned on to indicate the active state. If the keyboard device is not connected to the cellular phone, the device is set to a standby state. In this state, the keyboard device is in a mode where a connection state with respect to a cellular phone is monitored, without turning on the LED. The power dissipated in the power supply of the keyboard device is minimized, thus the device is capable of operating for a long period of time.

    Abstract: A mouse platform that mounts over the normally unused portion of a keyboard where the mouse is easily accessible by the right hand of the user. Further, the platform is easily removable to allow use of the normally unused portion of keyboard for the few programs that require such use. In one embodiment, the platform rests on the same surface as the keyboard but extends over the normally unused portion of the keyboard. In a second embodiment, a first part of the platform is affixed to the keyboard, a second part of the platform can be easily attached and removed from the first part. The second part is the surface on which the mouse rests. Advantageously, in the second embodiment, the first part may be Velcro strips which are glued onto the keyboard with the second part having matching Velcro strips. In a third embodiment, the second part is adjustable to compensate for the keyboard being tilted.

The compartments thus depend from the main tray along a rear surface of the keyboard. The compartments are arrangeable along the length of the main tray in a variety of different configurations. One or more of the compartments is sized for storing computer floppy disks. At least one of the compartments is sufficiently short such that, when positioned along the rear surface of the keyboard, it does not interfere with a keyboard cord extending outward from the rear of the keyboard. The provision of detachable and reconfigurable compartments allows the desktop organizer to be configured to avoid interference with access to disk drives of the computer.

    Abstract: A computer input device removably mounted to a keyboard is disclosed. A bar, which may be slightly longer than the width of the keyboard, is slidably mounted beneath the keyboard. The bar is slidable from a first position in which one end of the bar extends beyond the side of the keyboard to a second position in which the other end of the bar extends beyond the other side of the keyboard. An input device, such as a trackball, is removably attached, for example, by hook and loop fasteners, to the end of the bar which extends beyond the side of the keyboard. To move the device to the other side of the keyboard, the device is lifted off the end of the bar, the bar is slid under the keyboard until the other end extends beyond the other side of the keyboard, and the device is attached on the other end of the bar. The removable mount of the present invention thus accommodates left and right side mounting, eases the switching from side to side, and takes up minimum space.
