With Work Infeed Or Advancing Means And Means To Clamp The Work Thereto, Which Clamping Means Is Interrelated With Work Or Cutter Infeed Patents (Class 409/257)
  • Patent number: 8234771
Abstract: The invention provides an enhanced method and system for machining an array of components. A holding mechanism is provided for holding an array of components in a machining process. The holding mechanism comprises: a rigid base plate and at least one support for holding a raw material while machining, one end of each support being coupled to the rigid base plate. The holding mechanism is further provided with a secure plate movably coupled to the rigid base plate. The secure plate is provided with one or more holding parts such as double-sided tape or guiding pins for holding the raw material. The secure plate can be elevated to hold the raw material during a machining operation such as peripheral machining.

  • Patent number: 6736575
Abstract: A linear broaching machine for machining rotating parts wherein a plurality of tooling carriages are mounted upon a moving chain and broach type tools are supported by the carriages wherein the tools are moved in a linear path into engagement with a rotating workpiece to remove metal from the workpiece and form an accurately sized cylindrical surface concentric to the workpiece axis of rotation. The tool carriages are spaced from each other providing non-machining access durations wherein the workpiece may be loaded or unloaded from its rotating support spindles.

  • Patent number: 6648568
Abstract: A linear blind broaching machine (10) includes a base (22), a broaching ram assembly (24), a linear tool slide (26) supported on the base by linear antifriction bearings (90) and a support block (92) mounted between the base and the linear tool slide below a broaching ram of the broaching ram assembly to provide support to the linear tool slide during blind broaching. The linear tool slide has an elongated construction including an elongated positioning block (114) against which blind broaches are laterally positioned, and an electric servomotor (108) drives the linear tool slide (26) to provide indexing thereof between broaching movements of the broaching ram. A roller screw drive (54) driven by an electric servomotor (56) drives a broaching ram (44) supported by linear antifriction bearings 46.

  • Patent number: 4477216
Abstract: A broaching machine has a broach carrying ram mounted for reciprocating movement in a vertical path through a downward cutting stroke and an upward return stroke. A work holding table has a support plate on its upper surface receiving a part holding fixture thereon to hold parts in position for cutting by said tool, and the lower surface of said table has a pivot mounting to the machine base. Horizontal shuttling movement of said plate toward and away from the ram path is provided by a cam block movable transversely in said table and having a cam slot extending at an angle to the path of movement of the cam block. A cam follower is attached to the underside of the table and extending into said cam slot, and pistons are arranged in the table to reciprocate the cam block. The cam slot extends at an acute angle to the path of the cam block.

  • Patent number: 4212573
Abstract: Two vertically movable carriages are alternately reciprocated. Each carriage holds two broaches positioned at opposite sides of the ways that guide the carriage. In one embodiment workpieces are moved from a magazine between the carriages alternately to work stations beside each carriage. In another embodiment the workpieces are moved between the two broaches in a series of three steps, the first broach acting on a given workpiece during a dwell before the first step and the second broach acting on that workpiece during a dwell after the third step. In yet another embodiment the workpieces are held by a chuck which, between successive broaching strokes, rotates the workpiece about an axis normal to the broaching strokes.
