  • Patent number: 11883942
Abstract: The present invention relates broadly to a flow diverter disposed in a plenum area of a motor cylinder chamber (also referred to as kidney ports). The flow diverter acts as a barrier between a main inlet to the motor and an inlet to the cylinder chamber, and directs air or fluid to vane lifter ports of the motor before the air or fluid flows to the inlet to the cylinder chamber. In addition, the flow diverter can serve to regulate air or fluid flowing into the cylinder chamber to control power of the tool. The flow diverter allows for numerous options of where the main inlet to the motor can be positioned and provides a means of regulating the air or fluid flowing into the cylinder chamber.

  • Patent number: 8651844
Abstract: The invention relates to a hybrid pump for delivering a liquid pump medium, comprising a rotor consisting of substantially non-elastic plastic, which is situated in the pump chamber and can rotate about a rotor axis. Said rotor has a base plate associated with the lower lateral surface of the pump chamber and several rotor parts that are spaced substantially at a uniform distance around the periphery, extend towards the opposite lateral surface of the pump chamber and are permanently connected to the base plate. A preferably curved rotor blade is pivotally hinged on the outer end of each rotor part, forming pump chambers of the rotor between neighboring rotor parts and rotor blades, said chambers being open towards the upper lateral surface of the pump chamber and the bases of said chambers being formed by the base plate of the rotor. The pump is characterized in that the bases of the pump chambers follow a concave arc, rising from the outer edge of the base plate inward towards the rotor axis.

  • Patent number: 8602757
Abstract: A device includes a ring having a tubular interior surface centred about an axis. The surface includes a plurality of axially extending, inwardly-projecting ridges. On opposite sides of each ridge is a first port and a second port. A rotor rotates in the ring about the axis. A plurality of vanes is mounted to the rotor body for rotation therewith and for radial extension and retraction relative thereto such that the surface can be swept by the vanes. The rotor and the ring are sealed to permit fluid communication into and out of the device only via the ports. The vanes retract and extend as the body rotates such that chambers are created which decrease in volume when in communication with the first ports and chambers are created which increase in volume when in communication with the second ports. A fluid pressure mechanism can cause vane retraction.

  • Patent number: 8597002
Abstract: A hydraulic pump or motor includes a body having a chamber and a rotor rotatably mounted within the chamber. The chamber and rotor are shaped to define one or more rise regions, fall regions, major dwell regions and minor dwell regions between walls of the chamber and the rotor. The rotor has a plurality of slots and vanes located in each slot. Each vane is movable between a retracted position and an extended position. In the retracted position, the vanes are unable to work the hydraulic fluid introduced into the chamber whereas they are able to work the hydraulic fluid introduced into the chamber in the extended position. A vane retaining member that is selectively actuable enables the vanes to be retained in the retracted position.
