Patent number: 5776401Abstract: A method for manufacturing rubber molds using a mold making apparatus having first and second discs of rubber mold material with models of articles to be cast positioned therebetween includes a bottom plate having a centrally located portion which engages the first sheet of rubber mold material and an outer reduced thickness flange, and a top plate which overlies the bottom plate. The top plate has a centrally located portion which engages the second sheet of rubber mold material and an outer reduced thickness flange corresponding to the flange of the bottom plate when disposed over the bottom plate. A plurality of thumb turn members are provided for tightening the top plate towards the bottom plate by hand. The arrangement is such that the models disposed between the first and second discs of rubber mold material form mold cavities therein.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 1997Date of Patent: July 7, 1998Assignee: Conley Casting Supply Corp.Inventor: Douglas J. Patent number: 4640671Abstract: A three station turret-type apparatus is provided with a first station including structure for receiving a quantity of soil to be compressed into a building block, a second station for compressing the soil into the desired building block and a third station for ejecting a formed building block from the apparatus. A rotary table is equipped with peripherally spaced sleeves for successive registry with the three station positions and each sleeve comprises a mold in which the desired block is to be formed. The sleeves are removable and replaceable and one form of sleeve is constructed to have an auxiliary smaller plan area sleeve removably mounted therein. Further in the second station position, a stationary bottom plate closes the lower end of the sleeve registered therewith and the bottom plate faced with a urethane elastomer material. A pressure head opposes and is movably toward and away from the stationary plate and is faced with a similar urethane elastomer material.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 1985Date of Patent: February 3, 1987Inventor: John W. Patent number: 4539168Abstract: In order to remove a thin-walled wax model adhering to the walls of a first core piece and a second core piece, after solidifying, from a multi-part device for making thin-walled wax models, without damaging the wax model, after the external pressure is released, a mold-opening moment is generated simultaneously and abruptly in axially opposite directions by spring-loaded push-off bolts or directly by leaf springs in the upper parting faces and lower parting faces of the device. As a result, both the lower closing plate and the upper closing plate are separated from the annular casing and the wax model is separated from the core pieces, by a maximum of 3 mm, axially in opposite directions because the adhesion of the wax model to the walls of the core arrangements is overcome simultaneously and abruptly. Subsequently the two core arrangements and the casing are transported away from one another in an axial direction relative to one another, so that the wax model is freed.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 1982Date of Patent: September 3, 1985Assignee: BBC Brown, Boveri & Company, LimitedInventors: Manfred Brugger, Peter Vogt

Patent number: 4494455Abstract: A device for aiding in preparing a die member of a platen press to have recesses in registry with tools of a punch member characterized by a pressing station having an upper and lower bolster for receiving a pressure-forming device and a stack including at least one backup member, a die member and the punch member so that as the pressure device acts on the stack at least the outline of the tools of the punch member is transferred to a surface of the die member. The pressure device utilizes a hydraulic plate having a recess covered by a membrane which membrane is engaged by flexible support blades or members on its outer edge which are held there by an outer frame formed of blade guides. The device also includes a transport arrangement for moving the stack between the pressure station and an unloading station.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 1983Date of Patent: January 22, 1985Assignee: Bobst S.A.Inventor: Gregor Schoch

Patent number: 4436511Abstract: A dental press or jig for rigidly positioning during a short curing period, a matching pair of dentures held in occlusal alignment with one or both having a contacting layer of relining material pressed against a respective model of the patient's mouth, all clamped together by the press within a body of plaster of Paris. The laterally-open press is formed of a pair of annular plates or disks, vertically spaced apart a constant distance by three, upstanding, peripheral posts which are thus tensioned against opposite faces of the composite workpiece. Each plate is formed with plaster escape-channels leading to catch basins on the outer faces, the basins being defined by a reinforcing pattern of diametric ribs within a peripheral rim which render the plates unbendable under pressure. The assembly may be molded of glass-reinforced terephthalate resin for high tensile and flex resistant properties.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 1982Date of Patent: March 13, 1984Inventor: John W. Patent number: 4431394Abstract: A mold for use in making decorative marshmallows. A mold body forms a positive male punch mold having an exterior bottom surface of decorative shape. A handle is attached to the body and is upstanding therefrom. The mold is pressed into flour to form impressions in the flour. The impressions are then filled with a marshmallow mixture which sets up forming decorative marshmallows having the shape of the original positive mold.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 1981Date of Patent: February 14, 1984Inventors: Lee W. Patent number: 4286937Abstract: This provides a way of producing a sand mould which does not require heavy echanical presses or violent vibration to ensure sand properly fills tight patterns in a mould. Sand is put into a buffer zone 40 via a feed device 2,3. Below the buffer zone 40 is a flask 10 and pattern plate 14, and the space between the buffer zone 40, the flask 10 and the plate 14 defines a charging chamber through which the sand must fall to produce the mould. This space, and preferably the buffer zone as well, is evacuated. This eliminates air resistance to the falling sand and, as a result, the sand fills the mould properly. The sand is allowed to fall after the vacuum has been established. The reason for evacuating the buffer zone is to bleed the sand of air. It is preferred that the pressure in the charging chamber is reduced further than that in the buffer zone, since a difference in pressure will further accelerate the sand towards the pattern plate.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 1979Date of Patent: September 1, 1981Assignee: Alfelder Maschinen- und Modell-Fabrik Kunkel, Wagner & Co. Patent number: 4182238Abstract: A transparent, generally cylindrical, wide-mouth pressure retaining vessel or container cast of synthetic resin with a surrounding side wall formed by successively downwardly inset, annular wall segments, and externally reinforced by integral vertical ribs with successive annular edges of the inner stepped face providing support ledges adapted to hold removable shelves upon which freshly cast dentures, acrylic hobby items, pressure-curable art objects, etc. as well as fermentable foodstuff and gas-generating chemicals may be placed for exposure to externally applied and/or internally generated fluid pressure (gas or liquid). Necessity for retention clamps is eliminated by a threadedly mounted closure which carries a manually operable, threaded piston stem disposing a piston in an open-bottom chamber of the cover, which chamber projecting into a container full of liquid causes the latter to fill the piston chamber upon the cover being mounted on the container.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 1978Date of Patent: January 8, 1980Inventors: John W.
