This deposit is dropped accurately onto a conveyor belt for transport to a press wheel the height of which, from the conveyor, can be adjusted to provide a finished product of correct thickness. The press wheel has a system of vacuum ducts around the circumference in four chambers that pull paper from a de-nesting tray situated at the top of the press wheel, at the correct interval as to meet up with the deposit at the base of the wheel. This results in the deposit being pressed to the required thickness onto the conveyor, with the interleave paper attached to the top of the now formed patty.

The apparatus comprises two rolls for compressing tablets, wherein the rolls have a cylindrical shape and are arranged in the same direction, and can rotate toward their inner sides. When only one of the rolls has the plurality of cavities for forming tablets that are disposed on its outer surface, the speeds of their outer surfaces are controlled so that the speed of the roll that has the plurality of cavities on its outer surface is slower than that of the roll that has no cavity. Further, when both rolls have the plurality of cavities forming tablets that are disposed on their outer surfaces, the speeds of their outer surfaces are controlled so that the speeds of the rolls differ. Consequently, tablets that have a high dimensional accuracy and no burrs formed around them can be produced.

The finishing belt can readily be changed when worn or damaged or to alter the characteristics being imparted to a web of paper.

  • Patent number: 6099885
Abstract: An improved apparatus and method for improving the integrity of seams of ravioli in commercial production. The improvement includes applying dry steam to the top surface of the bottom layer of pasta dough and to the bottom surface of the top layer of pasta dough before sealing the seams together. Steam is applied via a pair of steam manifolds adjacent the pasta layers and increases the adhesiveness of the pasta. In another aspect, stresses in the layers of pasta dough are relieved by forming the individual pockets into convex shapes, reducing the stresses in the upper pasta dough layer.

Abstract: A distinctive method for contouring a fibrous web includes the steps of (a) providing a fibrous web which defines an interconnected series of appointed article segments along a length dimension of said web, and (b) conveying said web at a selected speed along an appointed machine direction. The method also includes the step of (c) removing predetermined quantities of fibers from selected regions of said fibrous web with a moving, outer peripheral scarfing surface, which is movable along a selected movement direction. The scarfing surface is constructed to provide each of the article segments with a selected contoured basis weight which varies along the length dimension of said segment in a selected correspondence with a predetermined scarfing pattern. The scarfing pattern is provided by the outer peripheral scarfing surface and is variably patterned along the movement direction of the scarfing surface.

  • Patent number: 5411390
Abstract: A machine for producing configurated products including a rotary die roll having die cavities therein and a pair of feed rollers for feeding viscous product into the die cavities. The feed rollers may be easily moved away from the die roll and the die roll may be rolled out of the machine to allow replacement thereof. Relief members extend from a backing knife between adjacent die cavities of each row as the die roll rotates. These pressure relief pads reduce the amount of product contained in the pressure chamber and thereby reduce the amount of working of the material as it is forced into the die cavities. The machine includes a front shearing knife having removable and replaceable shearing inserts. The feed rolls of the machine include longitudinally extending tapered recesses with opposed recesses of the respective feed rolls being staggered at the inlet of the pressure chamber to cause particulates within the feed product to be more easily fed into the pressure chamber with less resulting damage.

  • Patent number: 5297947
Abstract: A rotary die moulding machine used in the commercial production of baked goods, which includes plastic inserts for the moulding cavities on the die roll, is disclosed. Each moulding cavity is formed as a bore with a first wall section extending inwardly from the outer surface of the die roll a depth corresponding to the desired thickness of the baked good being moulded, and a second wall section with an undercut edge beneath the first wall section. The plastic insert has a face portion with a designed face for imprinting a design into the dough, and has a base portion with a protruding edge which conforms to the undercut edge of the second wall section. The plastic insert fits snugly by snap action into the moulding cavity. The plastic insert further provides improved release of bakery dough. The plastic insert and the moulding cavity may be modified to accommodate different shapes, thicknesses and designs of commercially produced cookies, biscuits and other baked goods.

After passing through a cooling tunnel (58), the support material (16) is also cut into strips between the strips of food (14) in a first cutting section (62). The multiplicity of strips are then cut to lengths in a second cutting section (64). Labels (68) are secured to the trailing ends of the strips and the trailing ends of the strips are pressed by a label presser (70) to adhere the labels (68) to the strips.
