While the continous coupling element row is conveyed by a conveying section, the head portions are heated and softened by a heating section, and a head-portion shaping tool having arcuate recesses is brought into contact with the individual outwardly curved softened head portions to shape the external shape of each head portion into an arcuate shape.

Thus, it is possible to provide an air-conditioning blow-out port device having an improved appearance around a mounting portion of each blade.

    Abstract: A process for making an all-plastic rod end to enable an articulated linking of two members. The process includes providing first and second split bearing raceway members each of which defines one-half of an annular bearing raceway and a stem having an open ended semi-cylindrical recess. A spherical ball dimensioned to fit in the annular bearing raceway also is provided. The spherical ball is placed into the first split bearing raceway member, and the second split bearing raceway member is placed over the first split bearing raceway member to define a complete annular bearing raceway that encases the ball. The process continues by molding a plastic housing around the split bearing raceway members but spaced from the spherical ball to enable free movement of the spherical ball therein.

    Abstract: A method of making a slider for use in a slide fastener, which slider is provided with bearings for a pull tab on an upper surface of a slider body on its opposite side to pivotably hold a pintle of the pull tab. By making use of only one slide core, a slider body mold cavity in a mold is blocked from a pull tab mold cavity and at the same time, hollow space portions in the bearings for the pull tab are formed by means of the slide core. After molding the slider body, by retreating this slide core, the hollow space portions in the already molded pull tab bearings are used as a mold portion for a pintle of the pull tab. By injecting an amount of molten synthetic resin having a larger thermal contraction coefficient than the synthetic resin used previously for molding the slider body, into the pull tab mold cavity, the pintle of the pull tab and the pull tab are integrally molded.

    Abstract: A row of slide fastener coupling elements of synthetic resin or metal is pressed between a pair of first and second presser rolls having first and second confronting presser surfaces engaging legs of the coupling elements. The first and second presser surfaces have closest confronting portions spaced from each other by a distance equal to the width of each of the coupling elements. The second presser roll is displaceable with respect to the first presser roll to vary the distance. The first presser roll has a spur gear held in mesh with a pin gear on the second presser roll. The first and second presser rolls can be rotated in synchronism by the spur gear and the pin gear even when the second presser roll is displaced relatively to the first presser roll. The first and second presser rolls also have partition ridges for meshing engagement with the legs to keep them spaced apart at equal intervals. One of the first and second presser rolls has a third presser surface for engagement with coupling heads.

    Abstract: A runner structure composed of a runner and a sprue is discharged from an injection molding machine into a chopping apparatus having a first cutter mechanism and a second cutter mechanism. The runner structure is guided by a guide mechanism in the chopping apparatus toward the first and second cutter mechanisms. The sprue is cut off from the runner by the first cutter mechanism, and then the runner and the sprue are chopped by the second cutter mechanism. The first cutter mechanism has a lower cutter for stopping the runner structure by engagement with the sprue, and an upper cutter movable into coaction with the lower cutter for cutting off the sprue. The second cutter mechanism includes a feed roller for feeding the runner intermittently and a cutter reciprocably movable for chopping the runner on the feed roller. The chopped pieces are discharged through a hopper and delivered into the injection molding machine for recycling.

During the advancing movement of the movable mold member toward the fixed mold and in timed relation to the stringer-tape advancing means, the tape shifters are movable with respect to the movable mold member to place the tape's part in the first position.

The strip of coupling element blanks, as it is withdrawn from the die wheel, is folded about its longitudinal axis into a U-shape while the strip is being heated, and then is heated by hot air before it is shaped into slide fastener coupling elements of a finalized shape as they are heat-set. Then, the coupling elements thus formed are cooled and discharged at a speed equal to the peripheral speed of the die wheel.

    Abstract: Individual slide fasteners are manufactured from a pair of continuous slide fastener stringers having stringer tapes made of a fabric including thermoplastic synthetic fibers. While being advanced intermittently in the longitudinal direction, the stringers are stamped out to form an element-free gap therein and cut to sever off an individual slide fastener length simultaneously at a first station with the application of heat to fuse and solidify the cut end against reveling. A bottom end stop is mounted on the cut end portion of the severed slide fastener length also at the first station. During advancing movement from the first station, the fastener chain is threaded through a slider fixedly supported between the first station and a second station located downstream of the first station. A top end stop is mounted on the cut end portion of the continuous slide fastener stringers at the second station simultaneously with the steps repeated at the first station.
