  • Patent number: 6254410
Abstract: Described is a connector in which a plug can be pulled out of a receptacle without producing stress in the connector itself or a circuit board on which the connector is mounted. The plug is inserted into the receptacle so that the side wall of the plug makes contact with the interior wall of the receptacle. When the plug and the receptacle are coupled, a fitting space is formed therebetween. When compressed air is injected into this fitting space, the plug will be pushed up by a rise in the air pressure and therefore the plug can be pulled out of the receptacle. The use of air pressure in the fitting space to pull out the plug is advantageous because it can be implemented without producing biased stress in the plug or the receptacle.

  • Patent number: 5329693
Abstract: A hydraulic tool for safely separating one multipin electrical connector from another. The preferred separation tool consists of a master cylinder which operates a pair of slave cylinders, each slave cylinder having a corresponding operative shaft and an extraction tab. The slave cylinders are variably spaced apart from one another such that they may be positioned on either side of mated connector pairs of different sizes and so that their extraction tabs may be slid between the connectors. When the master cylinder's plunger is operated, such operation is hydraulically transmitted to the operative shafts of the slave cylinders which extend outward and, once pressed against a substrate, causes the slave cylinders and corresponding extractor tabs to move away and separate one connector from the other. A second preferred separation tool includes an additional pair of extractor tabs, one at the end of each operative shaft, so that the tool can be used to separated a mated connector pair hanging in free space.

  • Patent number: 5153396
Abstract: A combination high pressure relief valve/high pressure cut-off device includes a housing for mounting in a pressure control installation. A high pressure switch, biased to a closed position, is mounted in this housing. A force transmitting mechanism is also mounted in the housing. The force transmitting mechanism includes a pressure sensing diaphragm adapted to be exposed to the pressure to be sensed. The force transmitting mechanism is responsive to pressure above a predetermined lower threshold pressure value to open the high pressure switch. The device also provides for rupturing the pressure sensing diaphragm so as to provide extreme high pressure relief in the event pressures build above a predetermined upper threshold high pressure value substantially higher. Additionally, the device may be electrically connected by means of a blow-off connector. The blow-off connector includes a resilient latch adapted to remain locked and retain the connector in position under normal operating conditions.

  • Patent number: 4950174
Abstract: A field separable ordnance stepover bracket connects abutting ordnance transfer fuse cables across the interstage junction of a multistage missile system using a plug and a receptacle. The plug receives a first set of ordnance transfer cables that terminate in percussion devices; and fits with the receptacle which receives a second set of similar ordnance transfer fuse cables. For maintenance, the plug is simply unplugged from the receptacle to allow access to the interior of the missile when the interstage junction is opened. For flight interstage separation, the fast burning ordnance transfer fuse cables ignite the percussion charges which are fixed in proximity to a linear shaped charge that circumscribes a flight separation junction. The percussion charges ignite the linear shaped charge which detonates to separate the stages of the missile.
