    Abstract: A watercraft includes at least one floating member, a central frame supported thereon, first and second foot platforms, and first and second handlebars. The first and second handlebars define elongated configurations and include grasping end portions, intermediate portions pivotably coupled to the central frame, and base end portions pivotably coupled to first end portions of the respective first and second foot platforms. A propulsion system includes an axle assembly, first and second rotating arms, and first and second oars. The rotating arms are fixed relative to one another, pivotably coupled about the axle assembly at first ends, and pivotably coupled to second end portions of the foot platforms at second ends. The oars are engaged with and extend from the foot platforms. The propulsion system cycles the oars approximately 180 degrees out of phase to propel the watercraft while maintaining substantially perpendicular orientation of the oars.

    Abstract: A fish tail propelled water vessel uses a pair of back and forth reciprocating pedals to rotate a flywheel back and forth, the paddle blade of the vessel attached to the flywheel so that the reciprocating flywheel swishes the blade through the water in side to side fashion thereby propelling the vessel. A cable attaches each pedal to its respective side of the flywheel in order to cause rotation of the flywheel. A pedal cable helps balance the pedals thereby assuring smooth pedaling of the device. Holding one of the pedals forward of the alignment point with the other pedal, holds the blade to that side, thereby steering the vessel to the opposing side.

The paddle assembly is removably quick-connected to the bow plate. Knobbed, slidably adjustable mounting bolts captivate the subframe upon the bow. The frame comprises a pair of adjustable, telescoping frame beams that enable it to retract or extend. The frame supports an adjustable actuating assembly including foot-operated pedals and optional hand bars for powering the boat. Cabling links the actuating assembly to the drive paddle assembly. Slidable captivation of the activating assembly upon the frame facilitates cable length and tension adjustments.

The blades are supported for rotation about an axis having a major radial component and stop means supported relative to the shaft limits movement of each blade in each direction from a plane through the shaft axis. A pair of cables are coupled to the shaft to turn the shaft and are positioned to be wrapped around the shaft in opposite directions. Sheaves on the shaft for each cable contain and direct the cables as they are alternately wrapped and unwrapped around the shaft.
