Abstract: A permanent full year inner cover having a transparent base and a central channel for improved ventilation and with ventilation ports that can be used as an additional entrance. A modification of the central channel to allow for an exteriorly controlled bee escape mechanism. An additional enclosure over the central channel to allow for the feeding of sugar syrup. The safety feature of the capabilities to observe, monitor, and feed bees without the removal of the inner cover and the necessity of protective clothing.

Abstract: The lid of the beehive has a split open top held by a mechanism to the one side of the body of the lid. By opening the top of the lid a surface is revealed which has containers on the one side and an easily open cover on the other, which enables immediate access into the internal of the hive. On the top of the lid there are shutters that open and close the air intake holes. The hive has a folding take off board on its bottom reducing space during transportation. It uses dovetail joints to hold the sidewalls making the beehive very durable.

Abstract: An assembly 10 for capturing bees comprises a bee hive defining a hive chamber 14 housing a plurality of comb frames 16, and a bee access opening 18 to the bee hive. The assembly includes a collection enclosure 30 defining a collection chamber 32 in fluid communication with the hive chamber, and one or more dividers 38 separating the collection chamber from a restricted chamber. Each of the dividers 38 include a plurality of fluid passageways 40. The assembly further includes a powered vacuum unit 44 for drawing air and bees through the suction opening.

Abstract: An observation hive includes a main frame including bottom and side frame members and glass front and rear walls which cooperate to define an open-top chamber in which two honeycomb frames are removably mounted. Front and rear top frame members interconnect the upper ends of the side frame members and respectively seat against the outer surfaces of the glass walls. A cover overlies the top and side frame members to close the chamber and has a depending insert portion which substantially completely occupies the portion of the chamber extending above the bottom edges of the top frame members so that bees cannot enter this space and be unobserved. Ventilation holes are formed vertically through the cover and the bottom frame member to allow vertical flow of air through the chamber, each ventilation opening being screened at its upper and lower ends. The bottom frame member is seated on pedestals to provide a clearance space therebeneath.

Abstract: A beehive includes a housing, a plurality of frames disposed in parallel with the frame and access doors which allow the frames to be inserted and withdrawn laterally. The frames are offset from the inner surfaces of the housing to minimize the contact areas therebetween, whereby the hard deposits formed thereon do not interfere with the removal of the frames. The inner surfaces include ramps which allow the frames to be inserted and withdrawn in an oblique path.
