Nut Or Washer Forming Die Patents (Class 470/197)
  • Patent number: 10562204
Abstract: A die is configured for use with a punch capable of piercing and cutting a workpiece. The die includes a base wall having a perimeter, an outer surface and an inner surface, a depending wall extending from the perimeter, a passageway extending through the base wall, and a central axis extending through the passageway. The outer surface of the base wall is perpendicular to the central axis. The inner surface of the base wall has a first portion which is angled relative to the central axis at a first angle which is greater than 90 degrees, and a second portion which is angled relative to the central axis at a second angle which is greater than 90 degrees. The first and second angles are different. The first portion extends from the depending wall to the second portion. The second portion extends from the first portion to the passageway. The second portion engages the punch when the punch is fully inserted into the die.

  • Patent number: 10086423
Abstract: A pressed component is formed by pressing a preform having a tapered tubular portion and a sloping portion provided at an end of the tubular portion and curved in a circular arc. Pressing is performed by a forming die apparatus including a holding body, a piercing punch, and a piercing die. When the tubular portion of the preform is held by an outer fixing and supporting portion of the holding body and an inner fixing and supporting portion of the piercing die, the forming die apparatus cuts off a portion of the sloping portion using an outer cutting edge of the piercing punch and an inner cutting edge of the piercing die and then causes a pressing portion of the piercing punch to bend and press the remaining portion of the sloping portion within a forming space to form a corner portion.

  • Publication number: 20100184522
Abstract: An encapsulated fastener includes a nut having a face with a concave gap adapted to receive a bolt. The nut is encapsulated by an encapsulation including an extension, which includes a tube adapted for receiving a portion of the bolt and a flange adapted for engaging a face of the nut. The encapsulation extension is placed on the nut in an overmolding tool, wherein an encapsulation base is injection molded over a portion of the encapsulation extension. The encapsulation base encapsulates the nut and extends into the nut concave gap forming a base foot and washer protrusion. The nut is encapsulated except for its bore which is sealed off during the overmolding process by a spring-mounted mandrel. Alternative embodiments of the invention include tubes with different configurations for contacting the bolt whereby the tube or cylinder is reinforced. A method and tooling for manufacturing the encapsulated fastener are also provided.

  • Patent number: 5288915
Abstract: Ketones are prepared by admixing at least one gem-dichloro compound with at least one acid such that the ketone wherein the keto-oxygen replaces the gem-dichloro group is formed. The reaction is exemplified by the reaction of 9,9-dichlorofluorene with an acid such that fluorenone is formed. This process has the advantage that no oxidizing agent is used.
