Shaped To Accommodate Seam Patents (Class 52/42)
  • Patent number: 10285514
Abstract: An improved shelf barrier for helping prevent items, including pallets of goods from unintentionally sliding off the shelves of pallet racks. The stop member can include at least one, preferably two or more grooves formed therein as strengthening features. The grooves can be concave grooves on one surface of the stop and can also be corresponding convex ribs on the opposite surface of the stop. The stop can be formed with two differently sized sections to be attached to the shelf of a pallet rack, each section suitable for attachment to a differently sized pallet rack shelf, such that either can be used by merely inverting the stop. A flange can be provided at one or both ends of the stop to help align the stop with the rack and prevent the stop from pivoting about a single attachment bolt.

  • Patent number: 8782963
Abstract: A molded ridge tile (1) made of bitumen-impregnated cellulose for covering a roof, and a method of applying the ridge tile to the roof. The ridge tile has an elongate shape in the length direction and includes transversely a downwardly concave symmetrical central portion (2) that is extended laterally and symmetrically on either side by two plane flanges (3) sloping laterally downwards beside the central portion, the flanges being carried by two planes that intersect with a downwardly facing internal angle between the flanges, the flanges being designed to be applied flat against two flat slopes of an upside-down V-shaped roof along the angular connection between the slopes, the slopes defining between them a determined ridge angle. In the absence of deformation stress, the internal angle between the flanges is 106 degrees±10 degrees, i.e. a flange angle relative to the horizontal of 37 degrees±5 degrees.

  • Patent number: 8371072
Abstract: A molded hip, ridge or rake shingle is provided that is shaped to fit over angled intersecting planar surface of a roof hip, ridge or rake, by making a shingle precursor and draping it in heated condition over a rack having surfaces that have an included angle therebetween to cool and take form, such that portions of the shingle precursor conform to the surfaces of the rack, at a desired predetermined included angle between the shingle precursor portions, to form a hip, ridge or rake shingle with shingle portions having the desired included angle between the shingle portions. The shingle is formed according to the process, and on an apparatus, to produce the shingles that can be applied to a roof, in an array of shingles.

  • Patent number: 8037643
Abstract: An apparatus and method for roof ridge construction are provided. Ridge risers are used to securely retain an attachment block above sheathing portions at an elevation sufficient to permit air venting through the ridge. The ridge risers have legs with one or more weakened regions (such as scores) that permit easy folding so that the legs can be attached to the sheathing and/or rafter portions. A set of attachment holes may be positioned below each of the weakened regions. The legs are joined to a cradle in which the attachment block rests. The attachment block is retained within the cradle via a mechanism such as fasteners, retention cleats, and retention assemblies with tabs designed to be driven into the attachment block. Roof covering elements, such as shingles, shakes, tiles, slate units, metal units, and synthetic ridge covering elements, are attached to the roofing block.

  • Patent number: 7823334
Abstract: The present invention generally encompasses a ridge cap roofing product that is formed from a composite material. The ridge cap has a cross section that is generally in the shape of an inverted V with a rounded apex and includes a front section and a back section. The front section has a straight lower edge. The back section has a lowered edge that tapers both upward and inward. The tapered shape of the ridge cap's back section insures that installed ridge caps lie flat and that a covered ridge or hip does not have a saw tooth appearance. The ridge cap of the present invention is somewhat flexible so that it can be used with roofs that have a range of pitches. In one embodiment, the top surface of the ridge cap's front section is textured or contoured so that it simulates certain conventional shingles.

  • Patent number: 7216466
Abstract: The present invention is a universal ridge clip for attachment of a ridge cap along the peak of a centrally located roof ridge, usually on metal buildings. The clip may also be used on a “hip” roof application. The ridge clip is of a construction such that it provides a strong support area for the ridge cap without the need for fasteners that would penetrate the roof panel at exposed areas to the weather. It generally is a Z-shaped clip having a top fastening area, and a bottom anchoring area with these joined by a generally upright panel having a notch therein to allow roof ribs to pass through the notch.

  • Patent number: 6223477
Abstract: The present invention comprises a block having a first and a second exterior side wall, a base and a top. A groove is located in the base of the block, the groove defining a first and a second interior side wall and a top interior surface. The block is locatable on a metal roof by placement of the groove about a segment of the seam formed by overlapping adjacent roofing panels. A hole is located in the block between the top of the block and the groove, and a locking device is locatable in the hole. Initially locating the locking device into the hole causes the locking device to be positioned between a portion of the seam of the metal roof and a portion of the first interior side wall of the block. Further translocation of the locking device into the hole causes the locking device to engage the portion of the seam of the metal roof and the portion of the first interior side wall of the block, thereby securing the block to the metal roof.

Abstract: A shingle is provided that is especially adapted for application to hips or ridges of a roof. In a preferred embodiment, the shingle is a laminated multi-layer shingle, bent or curled into a preformed shape that is reasonably close to the shape that it will have in the installed condition. The shingle layers are connected together in more than one zone, or in one large zone after sliding relative to one another as the shingle is bent or curled. Preferably, such connection is by means of an adhesive.
