  • Patent number: 5824126
Abstract: A novel soot filtering cap in a range hood includes a hood body, a soot absorbing perforated filter and a magnetic strip frame. A hook and loop fastener is provided on the peripheral rim of the vent cap of the hood body. The filter is made of fabric material having strong oil absorbability and strong gas penetrability and is fastened on the peripheral rim of the vent cap of the hood body. A plurality of vent holes are provided on the filter for smooth venting during operation of the range hood, while soot are completely absorbed by the filter. Furthermore, the plane area of the filter is larger than the cross section area of the vent cap and a protective edge is provided on the periphery of the filter.

  • Patent number: 5702493
Abstract: A smoke removal device, especially designed for use in welding, having one or more portable funnels, with a wide opening through which suction may be directed to remove smoke from particular areas where combustion is taking place, and a narrow opening opposite to the wide opening, a vacuum device for creating the suction by which the smoke is removed, the vacuum device having an inlet valve for each funnel, and hoses connecting the narrow opening of each portable funnel to one of the inlet valves of the vacuum device. In a preferred embodiment, the portable funnel is connected to a base containing magnets. The funnel is connected to the base by a first cylinder extending downward from the funnel, with the first cylinder fitting inside a second cylinder attached to the base, with the funnel and first cylinder being rotatable in relation to the base and the second cylinder. A wheeled, multifilter carriage is provided to clean smoke coming from the funnel before it is exhausted into the surrounding air.

  • Patent number: 5679121
Abstract: An air conditioner includes a body and a filter-carrying apparatus mounted to the body for carrying a removable filter. The filter-carrying apparatus includes a grill mounted to the body for rotation about a horizontal axis adjacent its lower end between a closed position adjacent the body and an open position spaced from the body. A filter guide structure guides a filter for sliding movement relative to the grill along a guide path. The filter guide structure is operably connected to the grill for movement therewith away from the body when the grill is moved to its open position. The guide path defined by the filter guide structure is oriented at an angle relative to a plane of the grill when the grill is in its open position. The filter guide structure can be rigidly connected to the grill to form a permanently angled relationship therebetween, or it can be pivotally mounted for movement relative to the grill so that the angled relationship is formed only when the grill is rotated to its open position.

  • Patent number: 4470834
Abstract: An air filter for use with wood or coal stoves of the type having a plenum surrounding the firebox. The air filter includes a porous framework in the shape of a C-shaped channel which houses a filter pad. The outer and inner surfaces of the framework are porous and substantially open. The framework is preferably of a relatively stiff, but deformable, open weave material bounded along its edges by a circumferential frame. The inner surface defines an access opening through which the filter pad can be inserted. The air filter is sized to cover a recirculating air inlet of the stove. Magnetic strips allow the air filter to be easily and quickly mounted to the stove without modification.

  • Patent number: 4468321
Abstract: The filter device is for filtering liquids and has a reservoir member for receiving the liquid to be filtered and a spout member for exit of the liquid after it is filtered, the spout member being assembled to the reservoir member with a filter disc therebetween. Each of these members has an annular ceramic magnet, these ceramic magnets being adjacent each other when the members are assembled whereby the magnetic attraction sealingly clamps the filter disc between the members. In accordance with the invention, the annular ceramic magnet of the reservoir member is completely enclosed within a closed annular cavity in the organic plastic of the reservoir member, the annular magnet being of smaller size than the annular cavity; and the annular ceramic magnet of the spout member is completely enclosed within a closed annular cavity in the organic plastic of the spout member, this annular magnet also being of smaller size than the annular cavity in which it is enclosed.
