  • Publication number: 20100147035
Abstract: A knitting machine in accordance with the invention includes a thread guide that is associated with a runner. The runner is disposed to hold open the latches of driven out needles of a first group while the needles of a second group are being driven out. Due to the time-staggered driving-out of the latch-type needles and of a first group and a second group, and due to the alternating arrangement of the needles of the first group and the second group, a rising of the knit fabric while the needles are being driven out is prevented without the assistance of holding-down/knock-over sinkers. Inasmuch as a runner that is separate from the thread guide is used for holding open the latches, the position of said runner can be optimally adjusted independent of the position of the thread guide.

  • Patent number: 4990149
Abstract: A modular broach handle for use with a broach having a tapered configuration beginning at a wider upper end tapering to a smaller lower end. An elongated handle body portion has a longitudinal axis, with one end portion of the handle body defining a connection end portion for attaching a broach thereto at the wide upper end portion of the broach. A slot extends a distance along the handle terminating at one end thereof adjacent a connection end poriton of the handle body. A socket communicating with the slot is formed at the connection end portion of the handle body, the socket having an open end portion receptive of an attachment post on the wide end portion of the broach. A spring loaded slider bar is disposed within the slot for sliding movement therein and with respect to the handle between engaged and disengaged positions, and includes an end portion that extends into the socket when in the engaged position to form a connection with the post.

  • Patent number: 4292820
Abstract: The method includes guiding two systems of warp threads to the knitting needles by two systems of thread guides, and moving the latter to knit the main loop courses and additional loop courses which are made between the main loop courses and which are shorter than the latter, with the two systems of the thread guides being moved during the knitting of the additional loop courses along the front presented by the knitting needles, behind the backs thereof and, through steps which are longer than the steps through which these thread guides are moved during the knitting of the main loop courses. The apparatus of the invention comprises a circular warp-knitting machine having knitting members, a mechanism for actuating the annular thread guide bars along the front presented by the knitting needles, and a mechanism for positive feeding of the warp threads of each system.
