Straight Patents (Class 66/82R)
  • Patent number: 5642631
Abstract: In a crochet machine for warp knitting workings, the vertical oscillations usually imparted to the threading tubes (17) and the eye-pointed needles (11) are replaced by a vertical oscillation imparted to the needles (6) through the needle bar (4). Said needle bar has respective opposite ends fastened to driving arms (8) operated by horizontal-movement means (7) of the needles and in engagement with oscillating supports (26) driven with a vertical reciprocating motion. An idler roller (37) extending between the oscillating supports (26) deviates the article of manufacture (5) coming from the needle bar (4) in a horizontal direction, before the article of manufacture reaches a roller drag unit (35).

  • Patent number: 4227385
Abstract: A straight bar knitting machine has pivots and levers for operating different reciprocable bars (such as needle bar, knockover bar and catch bar) arranged in a novel configuration wherein most levers extend from a longitudinally arranged pivot area to locate in a longitudinal substantial L-shaped zone and these levers are connected by links to the reciprocable bar or bars to form fabric in a zone substantially diagonally opposite the pivot area formed by the levers and the links when seen from the side. The configuration in a preferred embodiment has separate cams and cam shafts below and behind the L-shaped zone and for greater compactness a pair of fabric forming zones may be arranged back to back on a single machine with a common cam shaft arranged between the respective L-shaped cones associated with the fabric forming zones.

  • Patent number: 4222248
Abstract: A straight bar knitting machine for example of the Cotton's Patent type has (see FIG. 1) a shaft (4) which is resistant to torque located inside a knitting head (H) to reduce distortion of a knockover bar (2) located between a needle bar (33) and a sinker bar (30) by means of means (8,10,12) which interconnect the knockover bar and the shaft in such a way that the shaft oscillates concurrently with the reciprocation of the knockover bar.

  • Patent number: 4078402
Abstract: An attachment having a knitting machine including at least two toothed members slidable in relationship to one another such that when the teeth are aligned yarn receiving openings are presented and on sliding the members relative to one another yarns within the yarn receiving openings are gripped by adjacent teeth.

  • Patent number: 4069690
Abstract: Decorative knitted fabrics have a basic weft knit structure with patterned effects produced by a warp yarn loops of which cover selected loops of weft yarn so as to be visible on the face of the fabric. The fabrics are produced by feeding warp yarns to selected needles of a straight bar knitting machine in addition to the normal weft yarn and controlling the tension of the yarn such that the warp yarn loops cover the corresponding weft yarn loops in the desired manner. To ensure the desired structure, it is preferred that the tension in the warp yarn should be relatively high when the yarn is wrapped round the selected needles but relatively low when the needles execute their knitting motion. Apparatus for producing these fabrics includes warp yarn guides which can be moved to and fro in front and behind the knitting needles and moved sideways past one or more needle positions. The warp guides can be swung upwards to clear the needles during fashioning movements.
