Handle Assembly, Lock-controlled Patents (Class 70/DIG31)
  • Patent number: 5685583
Abstract: A door knob construction featuring a machined knob and cover to incorporate decorative detail. The knob construction consists of a knob body, a shank threadably connected to the knob body and a cover which fits over the shank to complete the decorative knob assembly. The knob body is hollow to accommodate the lock cylinder and includes a small diameter hole through which the cylinder protrudes. The back of the knob body includes threads to accept the knob shank. Upon assembly, a bore is drilled across the threads and a pin is inserted to prevent disassembly of the knob body from the shank. The shank includes longitudinal ridges to form an interference fit with the decorative shank cover.

  • Patent number: 5490404
Abstract: There is provided a door locking handle assembly in which a bearing (6) is provided in a base member (3); a shaft (7) mounted in the bearing (6) is fixed to a handle (4); a lock lever (5) is fixed to the handle (4); a latch casing (18) is fixed to a front of the handle (4); a lock unit (23) is mounted in a lock-receiving portion of the handle (4); a receiving portion (32) engaged with and disengaged from a dead bolt (46) of a latch (27) in the casing (18) is formed in a front of the lever (5); and, stoppers 14 and 15 of opposite ends of the lever (5) are engaged with grooves 16 and 17, respectively; whereby a fear of overlooking an unlocked condition of the handle (4) is eliminated; and, since torque from the shaft (7) is dispersed and received through the stopper mechanism (14, 15, 16, 17), a fear of deforming the unit (23) is eliminated even if the assembly is subjected to such torque in its locked condition.

  • Patent number: 5077994
Abstract: A transverse retaining plate in the lever handle shank fits in a circumferential groove on the inside of the handle body and holds the lever handle on the shank. A key cylinder in the body handle has a bible which fits in a longitudinal slot in the handle. A resilient block is disposed in the slot in a position between the bible and the shank hub to hold the cylinder in position. The block also serves as a spring, biasing the retaining plate toward the groove.

  • Patent number: 4535613
Abstract: This disclosure is directed to a key-activated, handle-operated three way (position) locking mechanism for removable automobile, or other vehicle, roof panels of the type wherein the handle customarily pivots from locked to open (unlocked) positions to permit removal of the roof "T-top" panels. The "T-top" lock-handle device of this invention comprises a latch stud adapter mechanism and locking cam mechanism each located substantially within a handle-housing and operative to permit locking and unlocking over a three position arc for the lock and a two position arc for the handle-housing and wherein unlocking is effected by meshing of notched surfaces on said adapter and locking cam whereby the locking cam drives the adapter upon rotation of the handle to unlock the "T-top" permitting its removal from the automobile roof.

  • Patent number: 4028915
Abstract: A lever arm lock for a conventional quick-release hub assembly includes a cover mountable to a first skewer rod end nut supporting a quick-release lever arm. The cover is secured to the end nut with a locking mechanism (combination, magnetic, key, etc.) and maintains the lever arm in a locked position making it impossible to remove the hub. A second skewer rod end nut opposite the first end nut is formed with a substantially smooth outer surface that is continuously inclined with respect to the axle. This surface configuration prevents removal of the locked hub assembly by turning the second end nut with a pliers or other tool. The lever arm lock also prevents the hub from being jarred loose on impact with curbs, rocks, etc. The end nut assemblies have extensions which abut the frame thereby preventing loosening thereof for unauthorized removal.
