Alternate Dispute Resolution Patents (Class 705/309)
  • Patent number: 11922526
Abstract: Aspects of distributed ledger technology are leveraged to verify subrogation settlements. In particular, two parties to a subrogation claim provide cryptographic hashes to a subrogation demand smart contract stored at an address on a blockchain. The subrogation demand smart contract determines that the parties have reached an agreement by determining that the cryptographic hashes match. A settlement amount from the subrogation claim may be appended to a set of settlement amounts to determine a net settlement amount to facilitate a single payment between the parties on a periodic basis, such as daily, to alleviate the need for the parties to send or receive a payment for each individual settlement amount.

Abstract: Controlling information resources involves accessing a control definition of a number of control definitions associated with a first party and a second party. The first party has a first information resource and the second party has a second information resource, where the first information resource is in communication with the second information resource. The control definitions define a practice for monitoring the second information resource, where each control definition has a condition and a consequence. Meta-data is received from a second monitor of the second information resource, where the meta-data describes operation of the second information resource. The condition is applied to the meta-data in order to monitor the second information resource.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to a dispute resolution system and methods thereof. In one illustrative embodiment, the system mimics a virtual courtroom operating over a communication network. A session can be created within the virtual courtroom by a plaintiff and defendant having a dispute. After determining an available time when both the plaintiff and defendant can meet as well as a moderator, invitations are sent to the plaintiff and defendant. These invitations can include access instructions and/or passwords. Before or during the session, supporting documents, videos, photos, etc. can be uploaded. When the session time arrives, the plaintiff and defendant can log in. Live streaming data can be provided by the plaintiff, defendant and moderator, who can each have a conferencing device or the like. Through the live streaming data, the moderator can facilitate a resolution of the dispute between the plaintiff and defendant.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a system can include a centralized storage module, for example a database, that stores data relating to petroleum, natural gas and other related products taken from several different sources and entities. The entity storing and maintaining this data can be an entity independent from the operators, producers and/or other working interests. This system can use automated techniques to reconcile distributions to all entities associated with a well due to the removal of a mineral, for example, petroleum, natural gas and/or other related products, from that well, on a periodic basis. These automated techniques include, for example, reconciling all agreements associated with the well, reconciling the amount of mineral removed at the well, reconciling the spot market price associated with the well at the time of removal, automating approval by the removing entity, automating payment and the like.

Abstract: A credibility card contains a claim about a resource, a way to identify the claimant, and a set of choices to be voted on about the claim. A resource can be information content, a product, or another item about which a claim can be made, and it may be associated with a Uniform Resource Indicator (URI). Information (e.g., a web page) that contains or describes the resource includes the credibility card, and a user viewing the information is given the chance to vote on the claims, such as by indicating agreement or disagreement with the claim. The votes are stored in a repository, which may protect the votes from being deleted. Users can view the tally of votes in order to judge the credibility of the claim or the claimant.

Abstract: A secondary marketplace can provide potential consumers with a plurality of previously sold digital media content items. Each of the previously sold digital media content items can include a utilization right and a transfer right. A user selection of one of the digital media content items of the secondary marketplace can be received. Responsive to the user selection, a utilization right to the selected one of the digital media content items can be transferred to a user, who is different from the original consumer. The transferring of the utilization right occurs without the secondary marketplace providing the user with a new tangible storage medium that contains the selected one of the digital media content items. Thus, the user received digital media content item can be a digital only item, such as a downloadable one.

Abstract: A system is disclosed for handling post transactional credit disputes in real-time via a variety of transactional environments and architectures. The system includes one or more workstations linked to a communication channel and one or more servers with at least one having capability of displaying a plurality of pre-existing dispute handling forms. A party in dispute may access the forms, choose an appropriate dispute handling form, provide data in the pre-defined requested fields on the form, and transmit the form over the communication channel to a server for processing. A server accepts a User ID and password from a user, retrieves and displays a set of dispute handling forms, receives input entered on the forms, routes the forms to a second user in dispute, and makes the forms available for viewing to the second user. The program may further index the data entered on the forms using a code-based method.
