  • Patent number: 9010165
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention comprise forming a billet from molten steel and hot rolling the billet to reduce the cross sectional area of the billet. Thereafter, the billet is hot rolled into a lead pass bar having a cross-sectional area comprising a reduced width dimension located adjacent to the center longitudinal axis of the bar. In one embodiment of the invention, the billet can be formed into a lead pass bar having a cross-sectional area in the shape of an hourglass or peanut by feeding the billet through a first set of rolls. After the lead pass bar is formed, it is passed through a second set of rolls in order to form the substantially continuous threaded rebar without longitudinal ribs. The cross-sectional area of the lead pass bar helps to produce a substantially continuous threaded rebar product without longitudinal ribs using standard rebar manufacturing tooling and equipment.

Abstract: A system for manufacturing wire having a mill and a finishing station configured to receive the wire output from the mill in a continuous fashion. The mill has first and second dies and first and second capstans. The first die is configured to receive a wire having a first cross-sectional area and to reduce the cross-sectional area of the wire as it passes through the first die. The first capstan is configured to receive the wire from the first die and apply a first force on the wire. The second die is configured to receive the wire from the first capstan and to further reduce the cross-sectional area of the wire as it passes through the second die. The second capstan is configured to receive the wire from the second die and apply a second force on the wire. The wire exits the mill having a second cross-sectional area that is smaller than the first cross-sectional area, and is finished by the finishing station.

Abstract: A method of making elongated spacer frame members prevents a first spacer frame member in a series of spacer frame members from being scrapped. A supply of thin relatively narrow sheet metal stock is provided. The stock is fed endwise to a stamping station. The stock is passed through the stamping station that stamps the stock to define a scrap length of stock followed by a connected first spacer frame defining length of stock. The scrap length of stock and the connected first spacer frame defining length of stock are fed to a roll forming station. The scrap length of stock and the connected first spacer frame defining length of stock are formed into a rigid linearly extending scrap element having opposite side walls and a base wall and a connected rigid linearly extending first spacer frame element having opposite side walls and a base wall. A connection between the scrap element and the first spacer frame element is then severed.

The present invention can process a heat exchanger tube without changing the shape of a die of the extruding means. As a result, excessive stress that may be applied to the die is prevented, and a heat exchanger tube is manufactured safely. And, an integrated two parallel-row tube with a connection portion according to the present invention provides simple assembly of a heat exchanger and a larger heat radiation area to increase a heat radiation efficiency.
