Abstract: Press driving modules are provided to permit a standardized press design. The presses of a press line are equipped with always identical press driving modules, and the pressing force of the presses is varied only by the adaptation of the number of press driving modules. The press driving modules each contain two driving devices, respectively, that interact parallel or in series and have different characteristic curves. In particular, they have different maximal traveling speeds and different maximal forces. They can also have a different design with respect to their positioning capability and path resolution. This concept permits not only a standardization of presses of different performance classes within a press line but, beyond that, the largely free definition of characteristic path-time curves of the slides, and thereby finally also a freer design of workpieces, particularly of vehicle body parts.

Abstract: Provided is a die cushion controller that controls an ascending/descending speed of a die cushion based on a predetermined pressure pattern 56. The pressure pattern 56 has a low pressure target value PL which is first followed by an increased cushion pressure, a high pressure target value PH corresponding to a requisite cushion pressure for retaining a workpiece, and a complementary target value PC which is followed by the cushion pressure at a substantially linear increase rate for a predetermined period of time T2 until the cushion pressure exceeds the low pressure target value PL and reaches the high pressure target value PH. The cushion pressure overshooting the low pressure target value PL continues to follow the complementary target value PC, so that an overshooting amount occurring at a time point at which the cushion pressure reaches the high pressure target value PH can be reduced. • Patent number: 7331208
Abstract: A die cushion controller uses position control to position die cushion members for placement of a metal sheet. A pressing process starts and the upper die is lowered. When a position detector detects a position at which the upper die touches the sheet metal, the die cushion controller switches over from position control to pressure control and applies a preset pressure to the sheet metal. When the position detector detects that the upper die has risen to a preset position, the die cushion controller clears the positional deviation accumulated in position control to zero, then moves the die cushion members to preset positions and holds them there.

  • Patent number: 7293447
Abstract: A control device for a die cushion mechanism, for carrying out force control with high accuracy and at a high speed. The control device for controlling the force generated by the die cushion mechanism utilizes a press working cycle which is repeatedly carried out. A correcting part of the control device corrects each deviation in one working cycle based on a time-series of deviation data in the just before press working cycle. By repeating this operation, the deviation between the detected value and the commanded value may be converged toward zero. Therefore, the deviation may become smaller than that of the conventional feedback control, whereby it is possible to respond to a change in the commanded value in a short time.

  • Patent number: 7284407
Abstract: A reciprocating drive mechanism for converting motor rotation into linear motions to produce a reciprocating drive force, and a press machine using the mechanism. The rotation of a first motor (20A) out of two motors (20A) and (20B) is converted into a high-speed low-torque rotational output and transmitted to a ball screw mechanism (50) by a first power transmission mechanism (30). The rotation of the second motor (20B) is converted into a low-speed high-torque rotational output and transmitted to the ball screw mechanism (50) by a second power transmission mechanism (40). The ball screw mechanism (50) is made of a feed screw (52) supported in a screw hole of a nut member (51) so as to be capable of screw-fed rotation. The feed screw (52) and the nut member (51) are coupled with the first power transmission mechanism (30) and the second power transmission mechanism (40), respectively.

  • Patent number: 7143617
Abstract: A press forming machines includes displacement measuring means for measuring a displacement between a slide plate and a reference plate. Control means measures a positional displacement of each of the driving sources by using the displacement measuring means in each of a plurality of operating steps during the molding operation, detects a desired displacement position of the entire slide plate, extracts control data including a correction amount to maintain the entire slide plate at the desired displacement position, the correction amount corresponding to a change in load on each of the driving sources, stores the control data in the memory, supplies the control data to the driving sources, and separately drives the driving sources. Since an actual molding operation can be performed using control data generated in a trial molding operation, the cycle time of the actual molding can be shortened.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of tools used to modify the magazines of firearms. A die and anvil are configured to engage and form the lips of magazines, like that of the M16A4 and M4A1, to correct damage and enhance the feed angle of rounds to improve feeding and accuracy. The die and anvil are provided with a means to align them during the forming process to minimize the attempts necessary to complete the forming process. The anvil is configured to enter from the base of a magazine and to engage the side walls with sufficient tolerance to allow for free movement, but tight enough to detect deformation in the side walls. The anvil can be used as a rigid surface to correct deformation of the side walls with a non-marring tool. The preferred embodiment provides sufficient force to form the feed lips of the magazine without the need for additional tools.
